Why did Bajaj Finance shares fall over 8% value dip by over Rs 500?

Is this an 😨indication of an upcoming market crash?

Check out 👇why the stock crashed and what investors need to do now.

A THREAD ...🧵 Image
1 -First, Let’s look at Bajaj Finance :

- On Thursday Shares of Bajaj Finance were Rs 119.25 lower at Rs 5,980.60 on BSE.

- The losses continued for 2nd session.

- It is now below Rs 6000 mark,

- Which is the lowest since July 2022.
2 - Why it is happening?

Reasons:

- Less growth in loan distribution than expected.

- Since, it depends on loan interest.
- Less loan= less growth.
- AUM Growth = 27% yearly; 6% quarterly.

- Despite having a festive season, demand is low.

I had the most amazing conversation with my grandmother today! Born in 1930, I knew she would be amazing source about historical economic information. She told me of how they had their own animals that they raised and the gardens they grew. How they had 7 people/3 generations…
Under one roof! They biggest thing she said when I asked what my great-grand parents said about the time of the Great Depression was “Nothing, they didn’t tell us anything…” THIS is where we make a difference TODAY! We need to be talking about what is going on!
She agreed to basically an AMA where I can relay her information! Mind you, she’s 91 but sharper than most 30 years olds! I will try to do this within the week! If you have people raised during the Great Depression, ask them what they know!

On this 21st of December, when the Nifty shed 400+ points in a single day, there was a lot of panic on the news etc.

I heard an analyst say that this could be because of the "December Effect" !

What is this December Effect and why you should know about it ?

1/n
#marketcrash
The December Effect, more commonly known as the "January Effect" is a seasonal decrease in share prices in the month of December and an increase in prices in the month of January !

This is a very popular hypothesis but what's the logic behind it ?

2/n
#january #december
The logic behind this is that in Dec, investors sell there loss making shares to set off taxes against capital gains, causing the market to fall.

Then, in the next year buy those shares back, thus causing a rise in prices in January !

Sounds legit ! 🤔

The peculiar thing about Crude oil price collapse & bloodbath in equity markets across the world is that, no one saw it coming, no one had expectation/expected OPEC+ & Russia fallout would result in so big mrkt crash - Why would b that ? 1/n #marketcrash #COVD19 #IndianEconomy
Such highly volatile markts r real challenges to traders & risk manager even though risk scenarios r built & MTM @ VAR r calculated, despite of that margin calls going to banks/dealers - This has resulted into domino effect 2/n
Are we into a grand lab of behavioral experiment - How could crude oil collapse lead to such a huge loss, today Indian investors lost 11 trillion rupees & Globally mrkts lost $ 5 trillion in last 2 months -thr were no signs of recession or global contagion like 2008 3/n

Amidst this #marketcrash let me interest you in some interesting #Trivia , about Marico, the company which owns your everyday brands like Parachute, Saffola and many more.

I am sure you must remember the parachute bottles from your childhood.
Open office spaces, a concept quite common now in this age, was first adapted in India by Marico in 1990 when it wasn't picked up even by big MNCs

They first incorporated a truly open culture in India

Talk about Indian companies not leading the change.
In late 1990s, Marico was the market leader in hair oil segment(still is), and HUL was eyeing to take this market share away & relaunched Nihar with an advertising campaign so big that their ad budget for ONE quarter ONLY for coconut oil was more than Marico's total annual budget

I've gotten more than a couple of requests for advice on upcoming weddings given #coronavirus. My heart goes out to all of you. There's no one-size-fits all solution, but here are some considerations that can still #FlattenTheCurve. A thread 1/
I myself had not one big wedding but one very small ceremony and 5 small receptions comprised of different stakeholders and geographies. I highly recommend this approach even in a non-pandemic year. Here's why: 2/
+ Having smaller receptions enables them to be held in more intimate venues when you can really enjoy each guest
+ Less expensive as only the bride and groom need to travel and plans can be made more ad-hoc
+ Reduces awkwardness of certain circles not interacting well 3/
