🧵A trade involving #Marlins pitchers and #Orioles hitters still makes sense. No idea what talks have been had, but MIA is reportedly open to trading Edward Cabrera, and he’s a great fit for BAL. Here are some scenarios, starting with a simple swap: Cabrera for Jordan Westburg Image
Some caveats: Baseball Trade Values is a useful way-finding tool, but it is flawed and often does not understand the market’s perspective on a player. I’m using it as a reference here and adding commentary when I think it misses the mark.
I think BTV’s valuation of Cabrera is a tad conservative. Command and durability do create reliever risk, but many evaluators will see the stuff, the size and the 2022 step forward and dream of a #2 with 6 years of control. That’s extremely valuable.

I have talked to the #Rockies, who investigated the incident, tracked the fan, talked to #Markins Lewis Brinson. And as many of you and #9NEWS has reported, the fan was yelling for mascot "Dinger." Apologies come from the club, which also thought it hears the insult. And from...
... me for casting aspersions on the fan base and stadium worker. The team also tracked video and audio from both broadcasts, even talked to season ticket holders, the fan and his wife. I am happy for the conclusion.
Let's make that the #Marlins' Lewis Brinson, who did not hear it.

The NL playoff race is currently total chaos. The *only* seeds anywhere near determined for certain are the Dodgers at 1 and the Padres at 4.
Not only are the Cubs and Braves deadlocked for the 2/3 (with identical intradivisional records, for now), but Atlanta has to play Miami four times now, and they only lead Miami by 3!
Meanwhile, Miami is also part of a cluster of six teams separated by 1.5 total games! Either they or the Phillies (or maybe the Braves!) will get a guaranteed spot as the NL East runner-up, and one of the Cardinals, Brewers, and Reds will get an automatic bid too.

With this, following on the mass positive #COVID tests in the #Marlins clubhouse, there's no way this #MLB season happens. And all the other sports will be cancelled as well. Mark my words. Now let's take this beyond baseball and sports and look at things from 30,000 feet (1/7)
We were told in mid-March that if we locked down—really locked down—for 2-3 months, then we could start opening things up safely by July-ish, and maybe we'd have school this fall if we'd really beaten the virus. It was called quarantine. We could've lived with that bargain. (2/7)
Instead, in some states, thanks to, yes, #Trump and some stupid, Trump-loving propagandists (I mean #Republicans) running the show, they opened up in early May because they wanted to own the libs. And they shunned masks and hit #Fauci because they wanted to own the libs. (3/7)

Hmmmm 14 #Marlins players and coaches have tested positive for #COVID in the last few days. #MLBOpeningDay for them is cancelled. That's BASEBALL, where most of the game is spent as far away from others as possible. Anybody out there still thinking #NFL is a good idea this year ?
How on earth are we trying to do something today that didn't work 100 years ago when there were fewer people, and less opportunities for transmission? College football and whole baseball teams sat out in the 1918 Spanish Flu…
It would be better to START a season late, or not have one at all, than to START a season #NFL #NBA #MLB and then have to cancel it because players and coaches get sick from #COVID or worse die.

Sure, "polls aren't votes", but 15 pts down means Trump's (ym"sh) vulnerable, dries up fundraising, allows GOP electeds to contradict him publicly, allows reporters to treat him normally & not as the magician of 2016 who commands a cult of violent kooks.
To combat the complacency that the polling imbalance could bring, I suggest telling fellow anti-Trumpites that no matter how much DJT is down in November, when you vote, it will feel as good as punching him in the face with all of your strength

Today is the start of a new month so all month long I thought I would share a video every day of some of my favorite sports moments in my lifetime. These are in no particular order because that would be impossible to do! Hope you guys enjoy!
