In the Morden area, staff are dealing with icing west of Morden and high water levels east of Morden. We have three ice melts on our lines planned today. Full restoration is expected by 8 p.m. today. (2/7)

#mboutage (3/?) The worst damage is in the south-west up to the Parkland through to the Interlake. We’ve got dozens of wood poles down or broken that need to be replaced to get power back on.
In the Morden area, crews have melted ice off one stretch of power lines and are working on another stretch. A third will be completed tomorrow. Four poles were broken and should be replaced tonight. About 150 customers will be out until tomorrow.

In the Killarney area there were 10 broken poles. Crews repaired 6. Between 20 and 30 customers will stay out for the night — we expect to complete all work by the end of the day tomorrow if conditions are favourable. 3/?
Update on #mboutage #mbstorm: There are 1,005 active outages affecting about 15,000 customers in Parkland West and South Central MB. There are numerous broken poles — we estimate about 100 in the Dauphin area alone. 1/?
Brandon, Selkirk, and Winnipeg construction crews are on the way to help, but poor road conditions and closures will hamper their ability to get to the places they need to go. 2/?
As before, crews are doing the best they can, but we don't expect all customers will be restored today. Some customers in Virden, Morden, Killarney, and Neepawa areas will likely stay out until at least tomorrow. 3/?

We’re working as quickly and safely as possible under the circumstances. Crews have to use the same roads as everyone else, so any shutdowns or unsafe driving conditions will cause delays to our outage response. In many cases we won’t be able to offer restoration times. (2/?)

Latest trends have definitely shown a westward shift in the greatest impacts from this storm. This will result in a lot more snow and overall impact in Westman than previously expected (1/7)

The westward trend means the low centre is farther west, which will draw more warm air into the RRV and SE MB. This means possibly temps around 1 C on Wednesday which would cause more melting/compaction, likely reducing new snow depth (2/7)
The west/northwest trend also raises the chance of the southern RRV/SE MB getting dry slotted on Wednesday, where snow may stop completely, or become light when it was previously thought to be very heavy. This would be great news flood-wise. Wpg may even get dry-slotted (3/7)
Hate to say this folks, but odds are increasing that srn MB including Winnipeg will be facing a significant winter storm Wed-Thu (Apr 13-14) Potential for biggest April snowstorm in RRV since 1997 with 30+ cm possible. Still a ways away but models are not backing off #MBstorm
Image shows forecast position of Colorado low at 7 am Thursday morning via Canadian GDPS model. This track would put much of srn MB in the axis of heaviest snow. Could be some mixed precip with frzg rain/ice pellets/rain over SE MB Wed night into Thu am.
Two things of concern that would promote heavy snowfall:
1) Long duration event: Snow moves in early Wed and continues into Fri am. Longer duration for snow to accumulate
2) Lots of moisture being drawn into storm from central/srn US. This can lead to heavy snowfall rates
