Question that hit me on October 26th, 2017: is there a temperature window that stops 🛑 tumor growth, and the brain 🧠 can tolerate? If so, this could prevent tumor recurrence and buy the patient time to try therapies until we reach a cure.

🔑findings:
1. Tumor cells stop growing at room temperature (20-25°C). Remember, body temperature is 37°C.
Even 18 hours of cooling per day can be enough! 🕒 This point will be useful for a device in the future.

Noting that, just like the #AppsLibrary, #DTAC *still* doesn't have a required section on clinical #efficacy - and that #impacts are much more than just (avoiding) #risks - alongside focusing on the #algorithms and #data, have you considered asking a few more basic questions... Image
...such as:

1) Will the proposed intervention have a direct impact on health, mental health and/or wellbeing?

If so, what specifically is the intended impact and how will it be measured? If not, why are you doing it?

2) Will the proposed intervention interact with or have...
...any impacts on social, economic and/or environmental factors that would 'indirectly' affect health?

If so, what are they and how will they be measured - and, if necessary, mitigated? If not, provide evidence of ALL of the potential impacts you have actually considered...

Hmm. Maybe you could explain exactly how granting temporary approval for a not-yet-fully-licensed medicine, while indemnifying the companies selling it and the non-medically-registered people injecting it are "safeguards"? (Without exacerbating antivaxxer sentiment, if possible.) Image
Read the consultation carefully! These changes are presented as "supporting" #COVID19 vaccination but, as drafted, they seem to apply FAR more widely. Given how far off a vaccine still is, you gotta ask if this is actually more about other agendas...

On the new @SexOutLoudRadio, @albtweetin, host of Bodies podcast, talks about the women whose stories she shares & their medical mysteries. It’s a fascinating show where the interviews are deeply personal, yet what we learn has far-reaching consequences beyond 1 person’s life. Image
She covers #painfulsex, #medicaldevices, #thepill, #vaginalmesh #menopause, #ALS & #PGAD (persistent genital arousal disorder). She centers her subjects so they have the space & power to tell their truths.
We discussed discrimination in health care, the detrimental effects of shame, how women’s symptoms are trivialized, how to be an advocate for your own health care. We delve into her own medical mystery—which involved painful penetration and sex—and the journey to solve it.
