In order to become more independent in the energy sector, the European continent quickly needs to rebuild a strong renewable energy industry. A look across the pond shows how it can
be done: the USA passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in
August (congress.gov/117/bills/hr53…). 1/8
There, a tax credit for manufacturing companies of renewable energy products, such as solar modules, has been fixed for 10 years. In a very short time since the law was enacted, the solar industry is talking ca. 50 GW of capacity that could be built very quickly in the USA. 2/8
#MeyerBurger will contribute at least 1.5 GW from our planned factory in Goodyear, AZ. What does this mean in monetary terms for government stimulus? According to the law, the following amounts will be fiscally credited in the period January 1, 2023 is December 31, 2032. 3/8

Ergibt Kosten/kWh = LCOE.

"(...) Europe is now its largest export market for solar products, according to a China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) report on the outlook for the PV industry over the next few years" pv-tech.org/china-expected…
Due to the energy policy failures in the West especially in the last 10 years, whether in the #EU or in the #USA, the urgently needed #energytransition is currently not possible without Chinese products.
In other words: besides the strategic dependencies on #natural gas, #oil and #uranium, which we feel so much right now, we have created with our eyes wide open the next #dependency also on #solar energy.

The @BReg_Bund in Germany, which has just taken office, has set ambitious targets for our industry: 200 gigawatts of installed solar energy capacity in Germany by 2030. These 200 gigawatts will generate about 200 terawatt hours of clean and cheap energy - every year!

1/7
We accept the challenge.

Based on 2020 consumption, the 200 terawatt hours would represent 35% of the gross amount of energy consumed.

I would like to briefly break down what this means in numbers and details:

2/7
Since about 60 gigawatts will already be installed in Germany by the end of 2021, "only" 140 gigawatts are still missing. 2022 to 2030 is 9 full years, i.e. >15 gigawatts every year! That is about 2.5 times more than what has been installed annually in recent years.
