Dear @JennyMikakos : thanks for presser. Just wanted to comment about you being "flabbergasted" that the doctor worked. Agree that it's not good but wanted to tell you why. There is no sick leave cover for most doctors. 1/n
2/n If I am sick, I usually still work unless I am physically unable to get there because all my outpatients will get cancelled OR my colleague has to see double. Doing double work is hard. Even less chance of getting lunch than usual. No chance of leaving on time.
3/n patients are angry with you because you are running late (remember, seeing double the booked patients.) You do things faster. You might make an error. You probably finish 2 or 3 hours late and your overtime is not paid of course cos overtime is never paid.

If you want to make someone look more autistic and challenged than they are, moving their baseline operating level of challenge upwards will do that. #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergence
If the demands on their coping skills and capacity are significantly elevated you will see smaller challenges causing greater deterioration in functioning and behaviour. It's distressing for the individual and others observing. #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergence
The higher the baseline of operation (reduced through improved circumstances, better health, resources and skills training), the more work it is to return to baseline and overcome challenges #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergence

Being an entrepreneur comes with a sense of freedom & none of the institutional limits on creativity. Yet unless I'm consulting within an organisation or connected to community, it can feel lonely & isolating. Online communities are great for support but it's not enough.
I've seen the negative effects of people investing all their time/energy in networking online & draining group dynamics. I realised that one of my values is to participate in collaborations that involve physical meet ups or at least in the potential of physical meetups. 2/
What can I say? I derive inspiration from in person experiences. So it's not surprising that I notice changes in my thinking patterns & emotional landscape when my interactions are more virtual than physical. It's de-motivating & raises mental health alarm bells 3/
