Image

Microcap investing involves investing in small companies that have a market capitalization of less than 1000 cr. Here are some principles to keep in mind when investing in microcap stocks:

Research thoroughly:
Since microcap stocks are less well-known and researched than larger stocks, it's important to do extensive research to evaluate the company's potential for growth and profitability.
Look for undervalued companies:
Microcap stocks can be undervalued due to a lack of investor interest or market awareness. Look for companies that are trading at a discount to their intrinsic value.

The importance of doing #Scuttlebutt in Micro Cap Investing!!
While #microcaps offer the opportunity for market-beating returns📈, #investing in them with incomplete info can be very risky. But with information so scarce in microcaps, where can investors find this information? Image
•The process of data gathering for micro caps can be very different from large caps. While there is lots of publicly available information for large caps, public disclosures are very few for micro cap companies. Investing with partial or no information can be very dangerous for
micro caps as these stocks have low liquidity and it can be difficult to exit these stocks when the thesis goes wrong.
•So what can investors do to make prudent decisions when investing in micro caps. The answer is scuttlebutt. Scuttlebutt is a term first used by Phil Fisher

Micro caps are some of the most neglected stocks in the market. When done right, #microcaps can add market beating returns to your portfolio.

A thread on micro caps and 7 reasons why you should consider adding micro caps to your portfolio:
What are Micro Cap Stocks?

While the exact figures for what constitutes a large cap vs a mid cap is different for everyone, the general idea is that large caps are well established companies with lower risk as they have a long history of profitability.
These stocks generally provide stable returns and good liquidity. However, the growth in these companies is lower as they are more mature companies.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have micro cap stocks which are the smallest companies that trade on the stock exchanges.

I am "holding period" agnostic, particularly with #microcaps. Some names can return triple digit returns in a short period, others take time to appreciate.

One of my longer term positions is $SXP.to, a manufacturer of envelopes, of all things (boring business, exciting stock)!
On the flipside, here's a stock that I've held for nearly 1 year, with flat return $mnd.to
And here is $usak, acquired in mid 2022, I bought and sold 3 times. Not uncommon in #quant #microcap strategies:

Just watched @ZssBecker video on trading #microcaps . Loved his honesty and clarity of thought!
1) We are trading human psychology. It's ok to buy & sell based on narrative. Don’t be a purist. Most of these companies aren't even making money yet
2) Micro cap trading is about getting into things early and then trading in & out and taking decisions rapidly
3) It's not just about what coins to buy. But when to sell them, if you want to keep your gains
4) Micro caps lag BTC. If BTC pumps, micros will generally start pumping 1-2 weeks after that. And when BTC stops, the party in micro caps goes on for another 1-2 weeks before the hangover hits and markets go down

In honor of Ep. 200 of @PlanetMicroCap, thought I’d put together a thread of #MicroCap #Investing observations over the years since launching the pod in July 2015. I’m not a great tweeter, nor sharer of wise, philosophical, investor-y quotes, but this was fun to reflect...
Would love to see some of your takes from the show over the years, please forgive typos or poor punctuation...
MicroCap stocks are unique and still an inefficient market: giant universe of companies, most institutions stay away even from the quality ones, management teams are accessible, and yet, most tend to shy away from looking here usually b/c of bias, myths

1.I decided to share my portfolio’s annual performance against S&P for the first time. The S&P returns in the chart is estimated based on the same date and the contribution amount I had towards my fund as opposed to overall annual S&P return to have apples to apples comparison. Image
2.The fund is exclusively consisted of #microcap #OTCStocks . I was introduced into world of #Microcaps in 2017 through @NoNameStocks . I allocated my entire fund from index funds into these tiny stocks. I read books and blogs suggested by others and then it all grew from there.
