#MigrantsDay: a thread on what I see as the most significant development in the coverage of migration in Europe this year, and why it happened 🧵👇
Many investigations published this year exposed how European states have been arresting thousands of innocent asylum seekers under the pretence of a "war on migrant smuggling". You'll find them all the thread (I wrote some).

Negli ultimi mesi abbiamo parlato spesso di vigilanza e controllo delle manifestazioni o dello spazio pubblico nelle nostre città, ma la #tecnopolizia è schierata soprattutto alle frontiere,

There are 258 million migrants around the world. Some work in banks, others for the #NHS, some care for their elderly parents and others moved to guarantee a better future for their children. No matter why they moved, all have the right to access #healthcare. Image
Yet this basic #humanright is under threat. Around Europe, some of the most vulnerable #migrants are being excluded from healthcare: children, pregnant women, and homeless people. #MigrantsDay Image
Governments must step up and guarantee no one is excluded – especially migrants in vulnerable circumstances.
