#MLHU is investigating a cluster of COVID-19 cases and there is the strong probability that the Omicron variant of the virus is involved. #LdnOnt #Middlesex /1
MLHU was advised last evening of two COVID-19 cases who screened positive for “S gene target failure” (SGTF) which is a marker for the Omicron variant. These two individuals are amongst a cluster of cases linked to travellers who arrived in London from Nigeria in late November./2
It's important to note that officials are still awaiting Whole Genomic Sequencing of the samples; however, with the travel history and the laboratory screening results, the likelihood of an Omicron cluster is very high. /3

In a significant development, #MLHU will be receiving a 70% increase in its allocation of COVID-19 vaccine over the next several weeks. This will allow #MLHU to deliver more vaccine to more people in our region, with greater speed and efficiency.

This is particularly good timing, as it will allow acceleration of second doses. Protection against the new Delta variant is much better after two doses (about 90% after two doses vs. 30-40% after one dose).

Our region has seen very limited Delta variant activity to date, so we are happy to be able to offer this additional protection before it spreads any further.

So you’ve just been tested for #COVID19. While you wait for your test results (which can be scary!), continue to do your part to #StopTheSpread. Here are a few things to think about. Thread below ⬇️⬇️

While you wait for your test results (typically 24-48 hours):

➡️ Self-isolate until you receive your test result; this means staying at home, away from other members of your household.

/2
➡️ Write down all the places that you have been in the last 14 days, and the names of everyone you have been in close contact with starting 48 hours before your symptoms began.
