Maj. George Armistead commissioned Mary Young Pickersgill, a professional flag maker from Baltimore, Maryland, to make a garrison flag measuring 30 by 42 feet with 15 stars and 15 stripes in 1813. She would make a smaller 17 by 25 foot flag as well.

We continue to go back & forth w/the Russia - Ukraine War and the U.S. - Dakota War, looking for similarities & differences in what has happened, as current events can often (somewhat?) mirror historic events. #SSPMSpackers #MNstudies
During our class today, we were looking at the ending of the U.S. Dakota War. One of the passages from our textbook Northern Lights (@HistoryEdMNHS) struck me.

It made me wonder - if I changed some of the words, if it would sound eerily familiar to what is happening in Ukraine right now? It did. So I read the following out loud to students

I just got to looking at many of the photos my #SSMSpackers students took during @POTUS @JoeBiden's visit to Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota. I'll post a series of them from before and during the event.
One of the things we wanted to focus on as student-journalists was what was going on behind the scenes as well as the main event in Dakota County Community College. This Pro-Trump / Anti-Biden group was not the biggest fans of us asking questions or photographing.#SSPMSpackers
