I’m so glad I did it, the friends I made are incredible and our new #MissOhio I LOVE TO DEATH and is the perfect girl for the job. I got to experience a whole new culture, learn new skills, and serve my community. 1/
HOWEVER if pageants and #MissAmerica would like to stay relevant in society, they need to accept outsiders better. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in who I am than while on stage at Miss Ohio. I’m an Asian American Athiest Jew in STEM, and unafraid to show it. 2/
Does this make me less American than everyone else? Why should religion play a role in Miss America? Isn’t America founded on diversity and freedom of religion? Perhaps I’ll write my thoughts more politically correctly into a Medium article later. 3/
