Yesterday, authorities acknowledged a decrease in pressure in both pipelines; first in NS2, later also in NS1. The 3(!) leakages are to be found in the East of Danish Bornholm (NS2), and also two leaks in the Northeast of the Island (NS1)
Two leaks are within the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), one is in the Swedish EEZ. Sea depth in the region is around 50m.

First, why now?
Our ocean is vital for life on earth. Decisions are made every day about how and where we interact with the ocean - known as spatial management. Failure to get data from those who produce it, to decision-makers who can use it often leads to lost opportunities.

Often, you need to be an expert in GIS software packages to examine the data, or have a lot of money to pay for support. Even then, data is often presented statically in reports. Also, data often can't easily be compared between different sources and between different regions.
Fishing down the food web is the process described by Prof Daniel Pauly whereby fisheries, "having depleted the large predatory fish on top of the food web, turn to increasingly smaller species, finally ending up with previously spurned small fish & invertebrates"
What does this look like in an Irish context? Here are the landings of finfish & crustaceans in the Irish Sea from 1970 to 2017. Overfishing has hollowed out the ecosystem decimating many fish populations, with unquantified implications for ecosystem functioning.
Here is another look at the collapse in Cod (-97%) and Whiting (-88%) in the Irish Sea over recent decades in terms of catches. Whiting is so overfished that @ICES_ASC have advised that zero fish be caught since 2001.
