On artificial intelligence, the G7 recognizes the possible benefits but clear drawbacks of #generative AI. They will thus establish the *Hiroshima AI process,* a G7 working group, in cooperation with the OECD and GPAI, for discussions on generative AI later this year.

2/9: The #IntegratedReview will set principles to guide individual policies, advocating agile, global British reach in support of democratic values. Johnson’s strap-line is “#UK as a force for good”. But lofty principles will only be credible if hard, practical choices are made.
3/9: Much will be orthodox: supporting effective #multilateralism, rule of law, open #trade. I expect strong commitment to the #US relationship (whatever some say, #Biden is a godsend for Johnson) & lots about the fashionable but nebulous concept of an “#IndoPacific tilt”.

It is important to stay committed to peaceful coexistence, open cooperation, #multilateralism, and dialogue and consultation. #China and the #EU are comprehensive strategic partners, not systemic rivals.
In 2020, #China became the #EU's largest trading partner for the first time. The two sides signed the agreement on #GeographicalIndications, decided to establish high-level dialogue mechanisms on #environment & #climate and on digital cooperation, and concluded #BIT negotiations.

It's worth saying up front that this @nyuCIC database counts senior @UN jobs in the secretariat, peace operations and UN political missions. It doesn't include specialised agencies like @FAO or @UNIDO, which are currently under Chinese management. Nonetheless... [2/4]
What jumps out is that @Chinamission2un has actually filled very few of the senior jobs counted by @nyuCIC: 10 since 1995 and 4 since 2015.

While we wait for #HELSINKI2018 to finish, here's a couple of remarks inspired by the #TrumpPutin meeting.
1. Finland is not a neutral country. We chose our side when we joined European Union in 1995. Finland chose to be on the side of #humanrights, #democracy, #ruleoflaw and multilateral world order. Finnish foreign policy is based on promoting and defending these values.
2. Women's rights are human rights. We believe the world would be a better place for everyone if #WomensRights and girls' rights would be recognised and respected all around the world.
