Just to clear this one up, as it's very confusing for obvious reasons.
When the VAR checks for offside, he will always first see if the player is in an offside position.
Matic is offside. But in this case the VAR, Lee Mason, must then decide if he is interfering. 1/3 #MUNBOU

Lee Mason came to the conclusion that Matic was not in the line of vision of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
This is obviously subjective, so I'm sure many will feel the goal should have been disallowed.
