I finally went on my first-ever solo trip. How did this girl who has been timid most of her life, do this? Well if I have to sum it up in one word - regret - I didn't want to die with a regret. A regret doing nothing to make my dream come true.

Since the time I was 15 years old (which is 21 years ago) I've wanted to meet #RuskinBond. We had a story #TheCherryTree from one of his books. This was the first Ruskin Bond story I read and since that day in 2001, I thought I'll meet him someday.

As mountain states of #Himachal & #Uttarakhand resume #tourism, its the local communities that fear the risk of infection. We look at the example from #LahaulSpiti where locals are protesting against the resumed tourism activities.
Analysis by: @Writer_Rishabh & @stoic_gautamkr
#LahaulSpiti is a tribal district in #HimachalPradesh with limited public health resources. Also, more than 50% population in the district suffers from hepatitis. In such a situation, locals are not happy with visitors coming from highly infected cities for a tour in the valley!
With a population of almost 13000, the district is located in the remotest part of the hill state. #SpitiValley is a favorite place amongst the young travelers coming from mega-urban hubs like Mumbai, B'luru, Nodia etc. But, at this moment, locals are opposing any kind of travel.

#Thread: History of #DoonValley
Limestone quarrying was widely prevalent in Valley during the 80s. In order to give an economic push, it was the then Govt of UP that promoted limestone quarrying in the pristine hills of #Mussorie, giving rise to pollution and health hazards.
But, very few know that #Mussoorie was one of the favorite spots for JL Nehru and Indira Gandhi. In fact, it was Indira Gandhi that took the bold step to impose a blanket ban on limestone quarrying in the #DoonValley. Locals hailed this move and praised the then PM Indira Gandhi.
It has been written and recalled by the locals that while going to #Mussorie in her helicopter, Indira Gandhi saw the large stretches of dusty mountains and uprooted trees that moved her to introduce the ban for the limestone quarries in the #DoonValley.
