Today is the 5th anniversary of the release of the joint @CBMWorg and @ERLC #NashvilleStatement. Many sexual and gender minorities who adhere to the historic, biblical sexual ethic experienced the NS as a form of spiritual abuse.

We felt bullied into compliance by evangelical leaders who were our spiritual heroes. The NS reduced us to pawns in a culture war and coerced us to fight a battle that we did not believe was biblical.

Thread: I'm not an influencer but I have something to say from the perspective of an exvangelical parent of an adult trans child. What is happening out in the open around the @C_Stroop and @kkdumez exchange is a call to action for all allies. 1/
I'm not going to engage on the science of gender dysphoria. It's real - along with everything that goes with it including the high rate of suicide for those who experience it. That conversation is over because many of those who disagree have (like Putin) . . . 2/
. . . made their intentions clear; target, punish and cleanse our society from trans people and anyone who comes to their compassionate aid. We're beyond changing their minds IMHO. 3/
Affirming pastors and congregations waiting for the "right time" to come out as such - this is it. #NashvilleStatement
And for all Xians who have never made their own journey with the Scriptures re: LGBT affirmation, stop letting ppl tell you what to think.
If you keep your head down & just go along with words on a page bc the signatures boast wealth, power, & fame - then who is your god really?
