Here is my experience inside #Nationals Park tonight. I share it knowing that it does not compare to what the victims of this #shooting or any other experience.

We were up over by Section 319 finishing our @shakeshack when after the third out there were 6-8 pops. I noticed them and thought, “That’s a strange new sound effect and a strange time to play it.”

So sad because this is my husband’s favorite sport and his team is the #Nationals. He told me if they take a knee I won’t listen to the game anymore - he was blinded in Afghanistan fighting Terrorists and his best friend was killed several years after by a terrorist overseas.
His buddy left behind a beautiful wife and 18 month old baby girl. They both - along with all the men that fought with them that America is worth the fight, worth the sacrifice - they will only take a knee for God. But baseball is an awesome American sport - it’s the spirit of

1/Forgive a string on the current state of the schedule. What exists today is a version that on Thursday was okayed by the union and has the #Yankees at #Nationals on 7/23. But now that version of the schedule is out with teams, who will provide feedback.
2/Keep in mind that in a standard yr an MLB sked is a Jenga game of moving parts with what facilities are available when, what do national TV partners need, following off day provisions in the CBA, etc. So imagine even with far fewer games the variables being weighed now.
3/A month ago MLB would have been thrilled to play games in Az/Fla/Tex. Now it might have to rejigger the sked to avoid or maybe even eliminate them. It is 1 reason not to expect MLB to announce a sked this coming week, maybe even longer. A sked is usually done as much in

Friday at 6:15 a.m. @ICEgov will begin the deportation of military wife Alejandra Juarez. She contacted me out of the blue months ago, after we wrote about the wife of a 7th Soecial Forces vet who got a last minute reprieve. It was her last hope. Other media followed (more)
I live in DC, where we stand for veterans & military families in the 3rd inning at every #Nationals home game. It’s a stark contradiction to the vitriol I heard about Alejandra. It didn’t matter that her husband was an honorably serving Marine, or that he later deployed to #Iraq
... as a member of Florida’s National Guard. With each story, I got to know Alejandra better. With each story, @ICEgov thought the emphasis on her husband’s military service - instead of her illegal entry was unfair. Each piece became a re-trial. (More)
