దసరా సంబరాలు చివరిరోజుకి చేరుకోగానే అందరికీ గుర్తుకువచ్చేది జమ్మిచెట్టు. దసరా సాయంత్రం వేళ జమ్మికొట్టి, ఆ చెట్టు ఆకులను బంగారంగా భావిస్తూ పెద్దల చేతిలో పెట్టి ఆశీస్సులు తీసుకుంటారు

బంగారంగా భావిస్తూ పెద్దల చేతిలో పెట్టి ఆశీస్సులు తీసుకుంటారు. చెట్లని దైవంగా పూజించి కొలుచుకోవడం హైందవ సంస్కృతిలో తరచూ కనిపించేదే! కానీ ఈ దసరా రోజుకీ జమ్మి చెట్టుకీ మధ్య అనుబంధం ఏమిటి అన్న ప్రశ్నకు చాలా సమాధానాలే కనిపిస్తాయి.
కాస్త జమ్మి గురించి...
జమ్మి భారతీయులకు కొత్తేమీ కాదు. ఇంకా చెప్పాలంటే భారత ఉపఖండంలోనే ఈ వృక్షం ఉద్భవించిందన్నది శాస్త్రవేత్తల అభిప్రాయం. అందుకనే రుగ్వేదకాలం నుంచే జమ్మి ప్రస్తావన కనిపిస్తుంది. అప్పట్లో ఈ చెట్టుని అగ్నిని పుట్టించే సాధనంగా వాడేవారు.
