#VaccinesWork #neoTwitter #COVID19 Antivax tactic used here - when knowledge is a bit sparse, invent stuff to make your meme more scary. The meme shown here is full of errors. Its about multisystem inflammatory syndrome in neonates.
Lets start with some definitions - multisystem inflammatory syndrome is defined essentially as dysfunction in two or more organ systems after COVID19 infection.
"White lungs" is usually a reference to neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, meaning a situation where the lungs are not well developed enough to produce enough surfactant (a type of biological soap) to keep the lungs open.

Neonatologists should be the ones counseling the parents, not (Peds) Cardiology.

Thoughts, #neoTwitter ?

#PostClosureCardioPulmonary syndrome is real.

Other #PDAsym2022 pearls:

-Risk of scoliosis s/p thoracotomy #PDAligation (~30%)
-Early-ish closure in hi-risk (</= 26 wks) may help outcomes
-Many #PDAhearts close by 7 days w/o Rx
-#TranscatheterPDAclosure sooner (few vs many wks) may help

And,

-What we #NeoIntensivists do sometimes “makes no sense” to CV Interventionalists
-#hsPDA remains difficult to define

(Good thing we have a meeting for this 😆)

1/ You’re on rounds when a concerned fellow states “They aren’t clearing their bacteremia. It’s day 5 of therapeutic vancomycin and the daily blood cultures are STILL growing MRSA. What agents can we add on or change to clear this bacteremia?” #IDTwitter #NeoTwitter
2/ Is knowing they are a neonatology fellow, caring for a <30 wk GA, 2-week-old for a disseminated MRSA infection (+blood cx with MRI-confirmed osteomyelitis and a 10mm non-obstructive mass in the RA) enough information? How different can babies be from adults?
3/ A LOT different. As the article is titled “Neonates are not just little children”. Neonates have altered protein binding, larger volumes of distribution, smaller fat and muscle stores and immature kidney and liver function.
