2/ For those who don't know, herd immunity is when a large portion of the population has immunity to an infectious disease. This forms a "cushion" to stop the infection from reaching people who do not have immunity.

1/ Q: My state is starting to re-open, but it isn’t clear when or if #childcare or camps will be available in my area--what will we do with the kids all summer?!?

A: As states begin to permit gatherings of slightly larger groups, one option for addressing childcare needs may be for two families to join together to form a “bubble”. Under this approach, two households combine exclusively (i.e., minimize all other outside contacts).
3/ Creating a larger social "bubble" could help expand social interaction + help families with childcare needs while limiting interactions within a given community.

1/ Q: Does #uvlight kill the #virus? Should I buy one of those UV sanitizing devices?

A: Certain types of UV light *might* be able to help sanitize surfaces and air, but it's still early days.

HOWEVER, UV light CANNOT kill the virus if the virus is already inside of the body.
2/ Further, it's not currently deemed safe to use so-called “UV sanitizers” on the body, because of damage to the skin or eyes, and potential links to cancer. UV-C light, the most effective at killing viruses, can give you a nasty sunburn within seconds.
3/ Bottom line: Given the potential risks of #UV light, stay away from UV products marketed for personal use.

Left to the professionals, this technology may prove safe and useful for sanitizing equipment, airplanes, and buses, but this is still TBD.
