#Toxicnewsrooms? Ask me. I saw someone literally die in front of me. He suffered a massive heart attack and breathed his last in an e-rickshaw on way to LNJP. Before we talk about #toxicworkculture, first we need to understand what is a #toxicworkplace. @IndEditorsGuildv
“...a workplace that is marked by significant infighting, where personal battles often harm productivity. Toxic workplaces are often considered the result of toxic employers and/or toxic employees who are motivated by personal gain (power, money, fame, or special status)
, use unethical, mean-spirited, and sometimes illegal means to manipulate people …” Toxic workers do not recognize a duty to organization or their co-workers in terms of ethics or professional conduct. They don’t recognize merit and thrive in an atmosphere of favouritism

During my convalescence this evening,

I decided to go back & rewatch the @DouglasKMurray @mtaibbi debate against @Gladwell & @michelleinbklyn on the subject of trust in the mainstream media.

& DANG!🎤🤯
#mediabias #journalism #news #newsroom #politicstwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The most persuasive & impactful debate performance I've ever seen for these Roberts-rules type single subject debates.

With @DouglasKMurray in particular,

This is how you use persuasion & facts to take out an opponent, to brutal effect🪓🪵
I like @Gladwell a lot, but this debate was not his best moment; his attacks came off as very personal & rarely engaged with what the other speakers were saying.

Goldberg did fine but she was nowhere as pointed to the topic as her opponents.

Day 3 of our #WorldPressFreedomDay series on the working lives of #freelancers worldwide - today we're sharing insights from freelance investigative journalist Mabvuto Banda, who lives and works in Malawi. Follow this thread across the day to hear about his experiences
The climate for journalists in #Malawi has improved over the last 15 years. Nonetheless Mabvuto has been arrested on numerous occasions during his twenty-year career in #journalism. In Malawi, a law still provides for the imprisonment of anyone who 'insults' the head of state.
Mabvuto said of the photo above: “This is me with reporters in the #newsroom. We were working on a story about the growing calls within the ruling party to push the current President to stand down." [1/2]
