“Warnock will be the first Black senator from Georgia and, as the New York Times’ Jamelle Bouie pointed out on Twitter, only the second Black senator elected from the South since Reconstruction.”

Darn it. Why do I live in overcivilized quiet Boston & not still in #NewYorkCity? Right now everybody would be on the rooftops banging pots & pans, blaring music, waving at neighbors they don’t know. Miss this.

@bruce_y_lee succinctly says what I lay out in multi-tweet threads

This is it in a nutshell

Divide and conquer is as old as time. Ask anyone whose history includes being colonized

#Healthcare is 1/5th of the U.S. economy. You bet non-clinicians want a piece of that
If you are someone who touches patients, has ever touched patients, provides direct care, has any clinical background, I'll be totally frank, I respect your role. If your salary adds to the 30% administrative overhead of #healthare in America, then I have questions about #value.
This is a framework my coauthors and I offered on how to assess value and cut waste. Let's start with administrative burden. What exactly do you get paid to do in #healthcare? (we should be asking) What does your job do to deliver on the quadruple aim?

This is a truth few want to admit. Rural health or inner city health depend on the full range of clinician types. When was a CMO of a 14-center FQHC with $100m budget, we already had massive staff turnover & burnout - ~50% loss in 2 years with hard to fill staff openings.
True, don’t have too much respect for those who simply want to fast track to “medical” cosmetic procedures to compete with plastic surgeons on Botox injections

vs extending needed care in primary care fields

but it is a free country

every healthcare loophole gets exploited
Please spare me, tho, attempts at superiority of who has more/less heart/ethics/intellect by training

Lots of fraud by in healthcare by

...humans

“fraudsters enlist unscrupulous health professionals ―doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners”

NYS will provide health personnel & supervision so that @Sept11Memorial can mount the Tribute in Light safely.

I am glad that we can continue this powerful tribute to those we lost on 9/11 and to the heroism of all New Yorkers.

We will #NeverForget.
Honoring our 9/11 heroes is a cherished tradition.

The twin towers of light signify hope, resiliency, promise and are a visual representation of #NewYorkTough.
Thank you @MikeBloomberg for your partnership in presenting this year's Tribute in Light.

The virus has taken so much and so many. But now the tribute will continue.

Okay then... there was a fire in my building on the 15th floor...

..but because you live on the 25th floor you don’t even hear the sirens of fire trucks

*for* your own building!

Wow, there is a metaphor or two in that for sure....

I was happily on a belated Zoom Eid Party + farewell for my nephew going to college. All dressed Image
And then I get texts.. are you okay? Two people I know live on my neighborhood including @nkagetsu

Who says NYC is a lonely place? Everyone knows what is happening in my building before I do & looking out for me.

Then I was like, *sniff, sniff* okay, smoky - but am used to

If you are a woman who is not making others uncomfortable, if you are not pushing or disregarding boundaries, if you are waiting for permission, you are perpetuating status quo. Instead, be the change that is needed. Speak up. Be messy. @techreview

This week I heard that some do not ask for "consent" prior to tweeting

Having worked in insurance, am curious, where do I submit this prior authorization form in order to tweet?

Who is the decision maker? What is standard used for permission granted? diversitywoman.com/speak-up-and-d…

Do you remember the good old days when people could smoke cigarettes anywhere they wanted? When you went into a bar or restaurant and could see and smell the smoke in the air. Not really the good old days, were they? ... #NewYorkTough
Just like we did to protect people from secondhand smoke, we need to protect people from contracting Covid-19 from secondhand virus.
Just like smoking, people with Covid-19 spew a harmful cloud wherever they go. #NewYorkTough
That is where masks come in. Wearing a mask greatly reduces the virus cloud you might be generating and it protects others from the virus you might be spreading.

Be responsible and wear a mask in public.

Africans in the diaspora:
Everyone will tell you they want to be buried in Africa but fail to discuss end of life care.

A thread & Public Service Announcement- a story & lesson after caring for my Nigerian friend's father (now recovered)! 1

@DrSenait @fitsumaregaa @TayeAtske
For years I have been speaking out about the need for us to have difficult conversations with our parents about the type of care they would want in emergency situations. Because of cultural differences & taboo topics, these conversations can be especially difficult for Africans 2
in the diaspora. These topics can bring about histrionic guilt trips & rebukes from our parents who misconstrue our intentions. At the end of the day, there is a chance the awkward conversation can yield answers that will offer your parents a level of grace and dignity that is 3
