Children (& staff) could wash their hands 100x a day & sit in lines facing forwards thinking this will PREVENT #Coronavirus transmission. It won’t.
It will REDUCE transmission but the virus is in the air so ALL @educationgovuk safety measures need to updated accordingly. 2/4

If you could urgently press upon those able to effect change, the HUGE significance of this simple fact, we would actually be able to start to #MakeSchoolSafe. #EarlyYears settings & staff must NOT be excluded. 3/4

Recently @charity_shc gave its 12000 staff an extra paid day of annual leave as well as a free coffee and lunch. Similar initiatives are going on at trusts across the country.

NHS speaking up feel a great duty to ensure the public are aware of what is happening on the frontline. We are our patient’s advocates. But we shouldn’t be finishing 22 hour shifts fighting the virus and then spend time off fighting disinformation and abuse on social media...1/4
It is exhausting trying to dispel COVID myths, trying to engage with those who don’t believe COVID even exists to those who don’t want to put on a mask. I’ve had all sorts. From death threats to multiple abusive DMs a day. It is so demoralising 2/
Somehow NHS staff have become the first line of defence in UK public health using what little energy they have left fighting disinformation as well as fighting the virus. Because of this NHS staff are being pummelled with abuse online, at a time when they most need support. 3/
And while you’re at it @piersmorgan @Peston @SamCoatesSky @maitlis & @krishgm can you explain to them that the virus won’t go away just because the “old & vulnerable” have been vaccinated. It will continue to spread through communities until ADEQUATE SAFETY measures are in place.
As we’re seeing now on “the frontline” WHOLE FAMILIES are infected. The combination of advice to #schools/#earlyyears & #Christmas/#NewYear created repeated family #SuperSpreaderEvents of monumental proportions.
