Thrilled to share our work on #covid19 #drugrepositioning, one of the first computational work with experimental validation. Though we need to further troubleshoot the cytotoxicity, since we started in late Jan, cannot wait to share what we have learned.

1. Some anti-cancer drugs may be effective, but in general, they are toxic. may not appropriate for weak patients.
2. Anti-parasite drugs like #ivermectin, #niclosamide showed nice in vitro activity, but they are not soluble, challenging to deliver into the infected cells.
(1/5) Encouraging pre-print out of Korea (though some important limitations to note): a collection of already FDA-approved drugs show strong efficacy against #Covid_19 in cell cultures. They highlighted two they found particularly promising: #niclosamide and #ciclesonide.

(3/5) #ciclesonide CONS: #MERS-CoV treated with ciclesonide developed resistance, upping the likelihood of resistance emerging in #SARSCoV2 SARS. I find this concerning because "pushing" the virus to evolve could drive its evolution down paths of greater mortality or infectivity
