The Israeli Ministry of Energy announced on Monday that Israel has reached an agreement with Cyprus and Greece to lay an underwater power cable in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Israeli Ministry of Energy announced on Monday that Israel has reached an agreement with Cyprus and Greece to lay an underwater power cable in the Mediterranean Sea.
According to the ministry, the project would link Israel to the European electricity grid. In the Cypriot capital Nicosia, the energy ministers of Israel, Cyprus, and Greece signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding to lay the cable.
The underwater cable would run for around 1,500 kilometers and reach a maximum depth of 2,700 meters, connecting the three countries' electricity networks.
