Bullock's first-strike answer was horrifying. Disqualifying.
"No first use of nuclear weapons" should be a no-brainer. For Bullock to suggest that as president he'd use the threat of nuclear attack as a bargaining chip is appalling.
A couple of people have told me it's bad to make a #nofirstuse pledge because it limits the president's options. I asked them under what circumstances an American president should launch a nuclear first strike.

We should never be the first to use a nuclear weapon in a conflict. I'm proud to join with @RepAdamSmith, Chairman of @HASCDemocrats, to introduce a bill that formalizes what most Americans already believe: the United States should never initiate a nuclear war. #NoFirstUse
Here’s my entire bill on #NoFirstUse:
The only purpose of the US nuclear arsenal should be deterrence. Retaining the right to use nuclear weapons first won’t make Americans safer. In fact, in increases the possibility of a dangerous miscalculation & puts us – & everyone else – at greater risk of nuclear devastation.

1/ With Mattis and Kelly heading for the door and the myth of “adults in the room” evaporating, now feels like a good time to remind everyone that, yes, We The People really did hand a flailing, impulsive ignoramus the unadulterated power to end life on Earth as we know it.
2/ On a daily basis folks insist to me this isn’t how it works. They need to believe that someone — Sec Def, the Joint Chiefs, or a general, somewhere, surely — has to agree. Because the alternative sounds too insane to be real life.

Allow me to burst your precious bubble.
3/ Everywhere Trump goes, the nuclear briefcase follows. Inside it are levers to weapons made to wipe cities off the map. At any moment he can open it up, flip through its black book of targets, pick up the phone, and tell the Pentagon which armageddon on the menu he likes best.

Worried that @realDonaldTrump could launch a nuclear war? @RepTedLieu and @SenMarkey's bipartisan bill would prevent @POTUS from launching a nuclear first strike w/o Congressional authorization. Congress must act now to preserve global stability & pass our bill. RT if you agree.
#HR669 continues to gain support from Members of Congress who agree that Congress must be a check on @POTUS authority to use nuclear weapons. Is yours one of them? Check here: #NoFirstUse
