1. @WHO @TheLancet My thought about #Ibuprofen is its tendency to thin blood. Imagine an 80 year old coughing hard for two weeks. Like going a round of boxing. Internal bleeds add up and thinner makes it unstoppable. Would you recommend it pre-op? I don't think so.
2. It's not the noninflammatory NSAID mechanism. Just the bleeding side-effect that triggers all the d-dimer elevations. Look at the charts if they had work up at admission. Ask family. I think aspirin or heparin would be the same. Maybe a lot worse. @cnn @MSNBC @DefenseIntel
