On this #FairTaxWeek, we have a question: Why is @RishiSunak resisting the public call to #TaxTheRich?

Maybe it's because he and his wife are the wealthiest inhabitants of @10DowningStreet IN HISTORY & yet they somehow pay less tax % than the average doctor in London πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡
Meanwhile, the UK economy is a shambles. Nearly 30% of children live in poverty & healthcare is a complete mess. But applying a 1-2% wealth tax on assets over Β£10 million, could raise up to Β£22 billion annually.
Let's tell the PM that it's not only morally right to #TaxTheRich, but it's also popular! Polls by @YouGov and @PatMillsUK show that: 78% of Brits approve of increasing taxes on the super-rich while the wealthiest support a net wealth tax on those with more than Β£10 million.

When I posted my 11 tweets about going to national/international conferences in locations that have draconian #AbortionBans, I thought this was temporary, that societies, while having past commitments, will recognize this as an issue and change future locations. I was wrong

Societies keep scheduling #ConferencLocations with draconian #AbortionBans, anti #LGBTQ laws, as @GordonConf does. Even beloved @atscommunity plans to. This is putting members at a bind: To go & risk moral or physical injury or to not go & risk your career

1/ Interesting Comments from NHS CEOs:

One CEO described current rates being paid as "mixed". Massive understatement - we found huge variation of rates being paid including different rates for the same type of work in the same trust and even the same operating theatre #notfair
2/ Another CEO said "the optics are poor - people asking for many multiples of their hourly rate when others are doing for time and a half or double time".

Doctors already work incredibly long hours including regular overtime (at standard contract rates) and unpaid overtime....
3/ Consultants will continue to do this but it is perfectly reasonable to be paid higher rates when being asked to give up what little is left of your free time to do EXTRA WORK. And whilst the rates received by the doctor are higher the total employer cost is not that different
