Tweeting some highlights of the House Committee hearing on the Texas blackouts. This wont be comprehensive. Worth remembering that almost everyone who testifies has an interest in deflecting responsibility.
First up. Curt Morgan CEO of Vistra Energy says he was aware a bad storm was coming a week before it hit. Says he contacted state agency's about coming winter storm and was "surprised by the lack of urgency" he encountered.
Vistra's Morgan says the big story here was failure of the gas system to perform from wellhead to processing plants and pipe themselves.

Lots of questions about the role of serologic testing for #COVID19 over the past few days.

So, my $0.02:

1. We do not diagnose other respiratory infections w/ serology...#SARSCoV2 is no different.
2. Initial studies from China suggest seroconversion occurs in most pts around Day 11 (preprint below).

What this means is that serology is:

✔️#NotHelpful for Dx of acute/symptomatic infection.

✔️#DefinitelNotHelpful at the POC! 😱🤯

Regarding specificity, although there are some epitope differences by crystal stx between the spike protein of #SARSCov2 and other coronaviruses, we really do not know ANYTHING about the specificity of these COVID19 ELISAs yet.

Out of 156 human beings at #migrantpersecutionprotocols court today in San Diego, only 4 (all from the same family) are represented by an attorney. This means 152 people entered the US this morning to face immigration court alone #thisisnotjustice #dueprocessdenied (thread 1/?)
Sitting in court waiting for IJ O’Connor to come out and a baby is screaming. The “detention officers” from the private security company who are tasked with detaining #mpp families while they go to court are handing out diapers.
Only #mpp cases being heard in San Diego today & a few detained merits by video conference. Each judge has 40+ people on their afternoon docket. Babies & toddlers are crying as we wait for the judge to come in. One mom is breastfeeding her toddler to get him to stop crying.
