A thread re: the Sovereignty Act:
Dear Prime Minister,
My province has just been taken over by an unelected premier who has declared seditious and treasonous intent. She is working to protect our second amendment rights, except we are not United Statesians, and don’t want to be.
She feels the Jews under Hitler did not suffer nearly as badly as did Covid denying anti-vaxxers who were restricted from drinking beer in their favorite bar. She declared Putin was justified in his decision to invade Ukraine. She is endowing herself with dictatorial powers.
Her Justice Minister does not seem to grasp the law or democracy. What started as a confederacy of dunces is fast growing into a tyranny of idiocy. Please send help. Immediately. We don’t have a problem an election can’t fix, but none is forthcoming…

One of the most disheartening 80 secs I have ever seen on Twitter (which says a lot) from our unelected #Alberta premier @ABDanielleSmith. Let's set the record straight about #COVID therapeutics in #AB. 1/

This #NotMyPremier hashtag is BS. She is our premier. She followed the rules, and in our system of govt this is how it plays out.

If you don't like the rules, ok, push for change. But don't play the NotMy game. We're a democracy. Sometimes the other guy wins.

If you don't like Danielle Smith, instead of crossing your arms, holding your breath and turning blue, DO SOMETHING. Advocate. Write letters. Ask to meet with your MLA. Talk to others.
If you're a conservative, get involved with the party. When riding nominations come up, vote for the candidate that represents the type of conservatism you want to see prevail in Alberta. And for crying out loud, advocate for a candidate with more backbone than the current bunch!

I have sad news for a lot of you on #ableg:

If Justin Trudeau is your prime minister, Danielle Smith is your premier. And vice versa.

Failure to accept this basic fact is to deny a core tenet of our democracy: losers' consent. 🧵
Lack of losers' consent was at the heart of the convoy movement.
