3/ If Trump were telling the truth, the potential bombing/attack upon one American embassy would be enough to carry out a significant preemptive strike of some sort upon Iran.
The Trump Admin. launched an unsuccessful attack against a 2nd senior Iranian official in #Yemen on the same night Soleimani was killed. Congress has not been briefed (not even at the classified briefing this week!). No justification has been provided.
The coordinated nature of these attacks raises further questions about the claim that Trump was reacting to an “imminent threat.” If these were part of a broader operation, then the failure to consult Congress is inexcusable. The American people need answers. #NoWarWithIran
This strike is also an escalation of U.S. involvement in Saudi Arabia’s war in #Yemen. The Pentagon has previously avoided direct involvement & last year the House & Senate passed a bipartisan resolution to end U.S. participation, which Trump vetoed. nytimes.com/2019/04/16/us/…

When I look back upon American history I remember the two most significant foreign policy mistakes our country made in the modern era, and those are the war in Vietnam and the war in Iraq. And let us be clear, we were led into both of those wars by a series of lies.
The result: the war in Vietnam cost us 59,000 American deaths and many others who came home wounded in body and spirit. In fact, a whole generation was devastated by that war. The casualties in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia are almost incalculable.

3. I think the answer is simple. America didn't want to publicize the real outcome of our horribly misguided 2003 Iraq invasion, that it didn't make the world safer but opened the door for Iran to wield influence over Iran. In other words...

Hear me out. I remember when #Parkland happened, I went to pay my respects. I recall David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez, the other student activists being so aware that they had a limited media window to make an impact, to get their gun reform message out. Same thing now with the “camps.”
@MoveOn organized emergency responses around the country today. MOC are visiting “detention centers.” Some media outlets are getting access to photos. But we must remain on this- a year later it’s worse than ever for families separated, kept in squalor. #DontLookAway

I didn't put much thought into the regular sirens, followed by blackouts (power loss) that would happen regularly. Each time, my parents would take my sister and I to sit in door archways where the structure of the house was strongest to withstand a bomb blast.

As a parent today, I can't imagine the psychological torture that a parent must feel trying to protect their kids from bombs and missiles. In 1984, my parents had enough. With little money, no language or know-how they gave up everything to start over in the United States.

The good news is that most people seem to already know of the CIA backed overthrowing of Iran's democratically elected government in 1953, but just in case.
