The fact that the @NRA is continuing with the #NRAconvention in Texas after 19 kids were murdered in Uvalde (just like they continued with their convention in Denver right after 12 kids were killed in Columbine in 1999), instead of postponing it, confirms something about them.
What it says is that they’re not willing to be inconvenienced. Even if not doing so means that other humans suffer.
The idea of having to go through a background check when buying any firearm from anybody - an idea that like 90% of the country agrees with? Nope. Maybe they think it’s a hassle. Inconvenient. And that’s more important than the fact that people will die when killers get guns.
At Discovery Green across the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston where people have gathered to protest the NRA’s annual convention set to take place there following the Robb Elementary School schooting in Uvalde, Texas earlier this week.

Going downtown to protest the NRA & GOP in #Houston tomorrow? Please be prepared and take care of yourself. Allow me to offer tips based on my decades of experience as a lawyer (tho this is NOT legal advice), activist, and person who hates hot weather. A thread:
Practically speaking, be prepared for the weather. Hydrate, wear sunscreen & a hat, sturdy walking shoes, have a minor first aid kit (bandaids, mostly), a soft plastic water bottle, and a couple of small quick snacks in case you have a dizzy spell.
Commit to be safe & nonviolent, but have a plan for things getting bad. Have a place to meet your friends if you have to disperse quickly. Don't wear jewelry or baggy clothes that can be grabbed and yanked. Let someone know if you are going alone & check in when you get home.
