Tarrant's inspiration 👇 (Thread)

1 (of 15) Tarrant’s manifesto (pp 74) is clearly modelled on Anders Breivik's (pp 1,500) – all very tedious and familiar.

2. They’re vomits of personal, narcissistic, paranoid, hysterical efforts of soul-searching.

Psychotic, xenophobic and Islamophobic, they’re autobiographical and ideological mash-ups. Don't look for cryptic codes; they're schizophrenic confusions.

@DMRDynamics @SethN12
3. They take from what politicians and governments, quasi-intellectuals and media have opined openly for decades. My French colleague has long called France ‘the main Western laboratory for Islamophobia’.

Evidence indicates he's onto something. 🇫🇷

And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive (it) not.
Surah Al-Baqarah, 154
Thank you @KhaledBeydoun & @Abdella6if for documenting lives lost. #RememberTheVictims (Follow them, not me.)

In the immediate aftermath of the white nationalist terror attack in Christchurch, NZ, a variety of #FalseFlag conspiracy theories regarding the shootings began circulating on social media.

To my Muslim friends: I cannot imagine your pain and suffering from the #nzmosqueshooting. Know that I am here for you and that I continue to learn and use my privileged position to address #islamophobia. #unitedagainstislamophobia #whitesupremacy #nameit @kristynwongtam
To my non-Muslim friends: I hope you and I connect at some point and chat about why these incidents matter to us and how we can be better allies. We need to think about how all forms of hatred do not happen in isolation and how our empathy needs to fuel action. @nadiazhasan @nccm

There's been condemnations (and an egging) of an Australian senator who after the #NZMosqueShooting tweeted "Does anyone still dispute the link between muslim immigration and violence?" He's echoing a logic that comes from more than the far right theguardian.com/world/2019/mar…
In an interview with @guardian last November Hillary Clinton blamed the rise of right wing populism in Europe on lax immigration policy, saying, “I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame” #NZMosqueShooting theguardian.com/world/2018/nov…
Last week @TheAtlantic published an op ed by David Frum saying almost the exact same thing. This victim blaming rhetoric conveniently avoids the question of WHY people leave their home nations, and focuses on white nationalist responses to their arrival theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…

So, David Parker, the Attorney General of New Zealand, just announced the country will ban semi-automatic rifles in the wake of #NZMosqueShooting.

Just like that.

My god, I wonder what it's like to live in a country that has leaders with common sense.
This is such a weird feeling of jealousy and happiness I'm experiencing.
Also, this is especially making me grateful for the work of @shannonrwatts, @MomsDemand, @Everytown, and others for their tireless advocacy under a government that simply doesn't care.

The #NZMosqueShooting terrorist appears to have a liking for Edward Codrington, a British admiral who fought in the Greek War of Independence, and Ernst Rudiger von Starhemberg, an Austrian fascist, influential in the 1930s, who later died in Argentina.
The terrorist also admires Marco Antonio Bragadin, a Venetian general of the 15th century, who fought against the Ottoman Empire. Go figure... quite a pseudo-intellectual, Breivik narrative here.
Sorry, 16th century
