You’ve probably heard or even used the quote: “The Judiciary is the Last Hope of the common man or woman”.

It is simple; yet profound as a street version of the maxim of the Rule of Law, that “Both the rich and poor are Equal before the Law” and always.

#JudicialTransparency✍🏾
When we were growing into adulthood in this Nigeria, our Generation had the highest reverence for Judges.

Judges? Ah!

There was a deep reverence for the judges resulting in strong public confidence in the Judiciary in those days.
Times have changed.

#JudicialTransparency✍🏾
What better evidence can one present on the reversal of public confidence in Judges and the Judiciary than the recent contribution of @oagbakoba Dr Olisa Agbakoba, one of the renown former Presidents of the Nigerian Bar Association @NigBarAssoc ?I gasped!

Hi @AishaYesufu, thanks for this initiative.

Here are 10 key priorities for the #CitizensAgendaDocument in a proposed order of importance.

These are all goals that have been achieved in one country or the other, so #ItsPOssible

I'll also add some simple measures of success 🧵
1. Strengthen the security infrastructure with a focus on protecting citizens, not just "catching thieves"

Nigerians should be able to do land travel from one geopolitical zone to the other without fear of attack (by bandits) or harassment (by police).

#CitizensAgendaDocument #SecureNorth#EndSARS
2. Fix electricity.

Nigerians should be guaranteed 24-hour electricity, not XYZ megawatt generation.

In Jun, 2020, we discovered payments totalling N278bn without descriptions, N51bn paid into personal acts & other loopholes for abuse of public funds on the #OpenTreasury Portal.

As a result of this, @Nigeriagov set up a committee with a mandate to resolve these issues.

Thread!
@BudgITng was nominated as a member of the Transparency Portal, Quality Assurance & Compliance Committee which also includes @ICPC_PE & @officialEFCC in response to our letter to the @OAuGF on the issues.

Our participation comes at no cost to @nigeriagov

#EndBadGovernance
Since the committee's intervention, payments without description have reduced from N40.76bn with about 500 transactions in March to N601.3m with 44 transactions in October 2020.

Was it not in this country that rising to take a strong stand that young women who went to school and were abducted deserved the justice of rescue by their @NGRPresident and @NigeriaGov , earned one attacks, falsehoods, impugning, arrest and detention? It’s their way. Just stand!
They lied to you that reason I, your fellow citizen was determined for #JusticeOfRescue to be given abducted children is “she wants to be minister”, “she’s looking for attention”, “she was hired as a consultant to embarrass xyz “, “ she is angry at xyz”.
You foolishly believed.
The total lack of cognitive ability or unwillingness to connect-the-dots and see through all the lies that the two administrations of the @NigeriaGov and their allies have hurled at your fellow citizens for daring to #SpeakUp for #ChibokGirls will remain a wonder to me. Na waa.

A short Thread.

I saw something this morning that reminded me to go read my pinned Tweet. /1

#EndSARS
By now, any honest Nigerian knows I am simply huge of Citizens Voice.

It was reason I propounded the concept of the #OfficeOfTheCitizen at a #GenVoices event in 2014.

It is why I never cease to push Citizens to never slack in demanding for Good Governance and Accountability.
When I saw the young citizens rise in unison to embark on #EndSARS protests across the country, it made me so very happy for them.

When the @PoliceNG responded with brutality, my heart raged and so I quickly wrote a letter and went to meet the IG of @PoliceNG on the 9th October. Image

So I wanted to rant since yesterday but wasn't in the mood. Hear me out now.

So I traveled to be with my family yesterday so I could escape the boredom of being stuck in Lagos all alone at home for days now. Yes o, I had to self isolate! I'm an obedient citizen nah. Lol.
Then the impending lockdown rumours were getting scary. Barely a week away from work and I was almost going crazy! Not to talk of an indefinite solitude. Man had to escape mehn! I set out and the road was pretty free. The fear of Miss Rona is the beginning of . . .
Fast forward to few minutes away from Ore and I meet these guys in uniform. I had met quite a number all the while anyway and most just waved me off. I figured my face mask scared them or something. Some of them also had masks and gloves too. Responsible officers! Lol

All well-meaning Nigerians should stand with @YeleSowore and defend his constitutional right and freedom to protest any matter of Governance that worries him.

Mr Sowore’s convening of Citizens to protest Poor Governance - via #RevolutionNow- is Constitutionally guaranteed.
If our @NGRPresident @MBuhari & FG @AsoRock are not completely out of touch with the reality of distress of majority of Citizens of this country, they would handle @YeleSowore ‘s right to convene #RevolutionNow wisely.

Many of us his fellow #OfficeOfTheCitizen stand with him.
I therefore join the voices of all well-meaning Nigerians to ask @AsoRock @NGRPresident @MBuhari to:

#FreeSoworeNow!
#FreeSoworeNow!!
#FreeSoworeNow!!!
#FreeSoworeNow!!!!

#DefendCitizenSoworesRight to Speech and Protest captioned
#RevolutionNow!

It is instructive that our pre-scheduled Bible study during family prayer this morning included Numbers 27. This Chapter tells the story of the Daughters of Zelophehad who arose, spoke up & challenged a status quo statute in Israel & God ruled in their favor.
#WomenSpeakingUp.
I have for decades modeled the #WomenSpeakingUp choice. Regardless of the price one pays for it in the vilest and most vicious things that will be thrown at you as a woman determined to use her Voice, I have always encouraged Girls and women to use their Voice.
It is vital.
We must therefore not raise our Daughters to be shrinking violets that are “shut down” for using their Voice.

To build an inclusive, just, fair and equitable society, we need #WomenSpeakingUp.

Everyone must learn to respect their Voice even if they dislike what it says.

Don’t worry folks.

This time in 2014, an orchestrated colony of attack-trolls had a specific Mandate.

It was to rage against every word of caution that was spoken by anyone who was not impressed with how Governance was going.

We ALL know how it ENDED.

Series Two is on.😁👍🏾
The unwillingness to LEARN from obvious mistakes of others is the best definition of Hubris.

For those who desire a decent society, no price is too high to pay.

Let not the orchestration of those who seek your Silence in the face of Evil make you turn.

#WeAreNotForTurning
For as long as this Government unfortunately provides Citizens the usual ‘raw materials’ of unsound policies, unwise actions, misguided positions, they should be ready to hear from us.

If they like, they can go & recruit additional trolls from across the borders.

No dulling.

One of my most favorite Chapters of the Bible is Second Chronicles. We are in the season that it is most applicable. Life is imitating Art now.
I shall tweet it for those who desire to learn a great Lesson from it.
May the revelation it gives to the wise not elude you. 🌹🙏🏾
It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon–tamar, which is En–gedi.
