Ohio @momsdemand and #studentsdemandaction volunteers are gearing up again to fight Stand Your Ground in Ohio. The new bill would allow citizens to shoot to kill in public, giving them more leeway to shoot than our military gives soldiers in war zones.…
The @urbaninstitute found that when white shooters kill Black victims, homicides are 11 times more likely to be deemed justifiable. Justifiable homicide rates among people shot to death among the Black population doubled between 2005 to 2011 in Stand Your Ground states. #ohleg

When Ohioans asked @GovMikeDeWine to “do something,” they meant something meaningful. DeWine walked away from the central parts of his own plan, like a call for comprehensive background checks. With or without the him, @MomsDemand volunteers will keep fighting for good gun laws.

Stand by! We’ll be live-tweeting coverage of the #OHLeg House Health Committee, and the first hearing of HB 68, a bill that would ban all abortions (without exception) after a fetal heartbeat is detected - commonly known as the #HeartbeatBill
Rep. Ron Hood opens up the hearing with sponsor testimony, noting that the Ohio House GOP has repeatedly tried and failed to pass the #HeartbeatBill into law.
Ranking member @Boyd4OH_D9 asks the #HeartbeatBill sponsors why they have prioritized this abortion ban over other family-focused policies - like paid family leave, mental health and postpartum care, domestic violence protections, and early childhood education.
