Here's 10 features that would help me find and make use of the data:
1) A good search engine that allows for filtering of content by data type, data categories, by dept., by geographic location and by licence.

2) A Primer for each dataset that includes a data dictionary, sample data and most importantly, a 'biography' of the data sets, meaning, who collected it (with contact info), why was it collected, who paid for it's collection, what's missing in the dataset, etc...

3) Show the most recent data sets added and the most frequently used datasets.

4) A project page with links to examples of how people both in govt and outside are are using the datasets.

I’m back at the @uscapitol, this time for a Congressional Transparency Caucus event on tools for Congressional staff: transparencycaucus.info/2019/05/21/sav… Impressive line up of speakers & organizations. Thanks to @RepMikeQuigley for hosting & championing #opengov! #CivicTech
First up: Michael Horowitz, the inspector general (@JusticeOIG) of @TheJusticeDept, talking about oversight.gov, which brings together IG reports from across US government. @OversightGov tweets out every new report when it’s posted. Goal: inform the public! #opengov
1 million hits/year for @OversightGov, Horowitz says. Enhancements are planned. Public will see thousands of recommendations that have not been implemented & would result in cost savings, he explains, & a IG vacancies dashboard. Cc @POGOBlog pogo.org/database/inspe… #opengov

Some really important journalism can be produced by local news outlets in preparation for a Super Bowl.

For the run-up to #SuperBowlLIII , this story breaks some very interesting new ground.

A thread:

I am at the last meeting of the Legislature’s Public Records Task Force, which was formed after lawmakers rushed through a bill to exempt themselves from WA’s Public Records Act. #waleg #opengov
Here is some background from @OlympiaJoe on how unpopular lawmakers’ vote was to exempt themselves from the Public Records Act. So unpopular that legislators begged @GovInslee to veto the bill, which he did. seattletimes.com/seattle-news/p… #waleg #opengov
Here are some of the draft recommendations being considered by the task force. Whatever is approved will be forwarded to the Legislature, which can decide what to do from there #waleg #opengov
