Since coming back to beautiful #Aotearoa, I’ve been ridiculously busy working on an exciting new focus - making films on #conservation, #wildlife & the #climatecrisis. During the #NZ summer I’ve had the privilege of filming in the stunning #OtagoPeninsula ... #Thread

#NZ has a number of native species currently under threat - from forest birds like the Kea, the iconic Kiwi, Kākāpō & Takahē. But it’s Dunedin that is hailed as the #wildlifecapitalofNZ because it’s here that you can see so much wildlife – from #sealions #furseals #penguins ...

We're honored to be on traditional #Lummi lands in #BlaineWA for Netse Mot: One Mind for Xw'ullemy, an event to show that no border divides us, we are of one mind, when it come to protecting our shared home — the #SalishSea. Watch the livestream: facebook.com/OurSacredSea/p…

“Our work is to protect and heal. We protect by protesting projects like the #TransMountainPipeline and #RobertsBank in Canada...we heal by spiritually feeding qwe’lhol’mechen #orcas and working to make them whole..." Raynell Morris, #Lummi elder

Yesterday #waleg passed our bill that secures a win-win compromise to protect our endangered Southern Resident orcas from boaters while also supporting the economic viability of Washington's whale watching industry. #SRKW #orcas
This legislation is the most immediate way to help our Southern Resident orcas, giving them more space and quieter waters to find the salmon that are here today, while we work on creating more salmon across the state. #waleg #SRKW #orcas
Thank you to the whale watching industry, Sen. Rolfes, Sen. Frockt, Rep. Blake and Rep. @joefitzgibbon for collaborating with us on this important bill. This innovative approach will significantly reduce underwater noise, and enhance echolocation and communication for our orcas.

HB 1578 will protect WA’s natural resources from devastating #oilspills. Preserving the health of our waters, orcas and salmon is crucial to our cultural identity, fishing economy and tourism industry. I thank Rep. Lekanoff for sponsoring this important bill. #waleg #zerospillswa
HB 1579 will implement the recommendations of my #SRKW task force to increase the abundance of Chinook salmon so #orcas have more food. I am grateful to Rep. @joefitzgibbon for your leadership on this bill. #waleg

Today the Canadian National Energy Board recommended that the #TransMountain pipeline expansion should go forward, even after they found it would be harmful to Southern Resident #orcas, increase greenhouse gas emissions and worsen global #climatechange.
governor.wa.gov/news-media/ins…
.@EcologyWA has submitted concerns about the pipeline’s impact to our shared international waters. I continue to stand with them and urge the Canadian government to reconsider.

We have a good working relationship with Canada and the B.C. province, where we recently reiterated our support for shifting our region to a #cleanenergy economy. Now is the time to protect our #orcas and combat #climatechange, not invest in long-term fossil fuel infrastructure.

Today several bills that I requested to save our Southern Resident orcas were introduced in the state Legislature. Without taking bold actions and drastically changing human impact to our environment, our beloved #orcas may not survive. #waleg

Now is the time to act to save these magnificent orcas. If we ignore our duty to save them, we will lose a piece of our hearts and of Washington's cultural identity. As the orca goes, so go we. #waleg #SouthernResidentOrcas #orcas Title: Southern Resident Or...
