Set to complete 50 golden years of its existence, Sudharma, world's oldest & most likely the only Sanskrit newspaper, is seeking financial assistance from the Govt for its survival. Sudharma was started by Pandit Varadaraja Iyengar, a Sanskrit scholar, in 1970.

Iyengar started his printing business in 1945 by printing books, government gazettes, question papers in Sanskrit and Kannada. He even organised Sanskrit workshops. To popularise the ancient Indian language and reach out to the masses, Iyengar started Sudharma.

#Padmasri to Yadavalli Venkatesh Rao for making farmers reduce their dependency on chemical fertilizers and shift to organic farming. Known as "Raitu Nestam" in Telugu states for the foundation he started to help farmers, another worthy recipient.
Yadavalli Venkateswara Rao was born in a small village in Guntur dt in a farming family. Settled in Hyderabad, he started the Raithu Nestam foundation 12 years back as well as publishing a monthly of the same name to assist farmers. #padmasri
Raithu Nestam has been organizing training and awareness sessions for farmers on chemical free farming, importance of grain based farming. Also many Rural development, Social welfare activities. Kudos to Yadavalli Venkateswara Rao, #Padmasri well deserved.
