I think it is really important to put front and center in this talk of who lost or got scuttled in Tuvalu at #PIF2019 a few key issues. Firstly the Tuvalu PM was not alone with all others supporting what Australia opposed on coal, zero emissions by 2050 and on the 1.5C limit.
Secondly the appeal to Australia by Prime Minister of Tuvalu “to do everything possible to achieve a rapid transition from coal to energy sources that do not contribute to climate change” is based on IPCC science has shown is needed.
Thirdly the call to set a zero GHG goal by 2050 simply reflects what is being called for at the international level following the IPCC 1.5C Special Report and an increasing number of countries (and several AUSTRALIAN states are doing).
