FACTS to know ahead of the Sugg #DIYAbortion vote today:
1. The NHS child safeguarding network says the scheme puts young people at risk of coercion & exploitation. The removal of in-person consultation allows pills to be obtained under "false pretences": politics.co.uk/mp-comment/202…
2. The scheme enables dangerous and illegal abortions to be performed by women on themselves. Soon after it was launched, one woman used the pills, meant for up to 10 weeks gestation, on a 28-week-old baby, who was then stillborn. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8…

We can no longer stand by while women in #NorthernIreland are forced to travel to England for abortion care during #covidー19, despite the fact abortion is now legal in NI.

That's why today we have launched a telemedical service to send NI women abortion pills by post. #NowForNI
We will run the service in collaboration with healthcare professionals in #NorthernIreland, for women up to 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Anyone in NI who needs our service can call 0300 500 8086 to arrange a teleconsultation with a doctor in Northern Ireland. #Pillsbypost #NowforNI
Abortion is now legal in Northern Ireland on request up to 12 weeks, but politicians have delayed commissioning services. We cannot stand by while the govt's NI Office gives reckless advice that women should travel to England for help despite #covidー19. #NowForNI
