This was indeed a fantastic and very insightful panel! Perhaps a summary of the main points can be useful. Thus, a long thread. 1/n
All panelists agree: Market power in #digital markets is worrisome. Fiona and Tommaso think that #mergers can worsen this situation and directly harm consumers by killing actual or potential competition, reducing #innovation (either killing the innovation of the target or .. 2/n
…the innovation of the acquiring incumbents) and quality (including #privacy). Mergers can also cause indirect harm (Tommaso) by increasing prices in the other side(s) of the market (e.g. #advertising). 3/n

Not always. We launched with three products and had doubled that in a year. Depends on the market and the products being launched.
Let's dig in with more IMOs.

Superapp strategies work in blue ocean, growth stage markets.

You're in one of these markets when your problem is scaling the business to meet demand, not scaling demand to grow the business.
When this starts happening, diversify.

Forget research, UX and all the other 1st world product advice. Focus on launching as many MVP products that increase utilization of your core asset base as quickly as you can.

See which of them grow despite all odds.

Double down.

"I want to warn the world about an unprecedented danger that’s threatening the very survival of open societies.

…I’ll focus on #China, where President #XiJinping wants a one-party state to reign supreme."

"Xi is trying to consolidate all the available info about a person into a centralized database to create a 'social credit system'..people will be evaluated by algorithms that will determine whether they pose a threat to the 1-party state. People will then be treated accordingly."
"#China is not the only #authoritarian regime in the world, but it is undoubtedly the #wealthiest, #strongest & most developed in machine learning & #AI.

This makes #Xi the #most #dangerous #opponent of those who believe in the concept of #OpenSociety."

Prediction: a huge class action lawsuit by influencers banned or demonetized by social networks will lead to recognizing & protecting:
- accounts as personal property
- posts as free speech

The more livelihoods depend on social influence, the likelier this becomes.
To be featured in this class action lawsuit:

Shadow banning

There are several legal precedents for this:
1) malls are regulated as public spaces and must protect speech and assembly rights even though they're private minnpost.com/cityscape/2015…
2) utilities (gas, water, electric) aren't allowed to cut people off even if they miss bills.
