Off to teach the first week of my #poli30241 elections and voters course shortly. This week we are talking about the role of class in British politics. An enduring conflict - but how has the political role of class changed in recent years?
Here's one of the graph's I'll be putting up - class and vote choice in Britain in 1964 (left) and England and Wales in 2015 (right). Spot the difference(s)!

Just been updating a little chart I make each year for my Elections and Voters class #poli30241 - govt re-elect rates in rich world since mid 2011 (roughly when sustained growth returned) - right wing led govts re-elected 2/3rds of the time, left wing led ones just 1/4 of time
Seems to me pretty interesting that government headed by parties (usually) more keen on capitalism and markets have done consistently better in this post-global financial crisis world than those headed by parties (usually) keener on regulating and reforming markets
Not sure this is what many of us would have expected to see back in 2008-11
