Ya'at'eeh my relatives. Today is #PresidentsDay and one of the Presidents our nation loves to honor is Abraham Lincoln. He is the president who freed the slaves and whose legacy is forever tied to the amendment that abolished slavery...

But the 13th Amendment includes a clause that keeps slavery legal in prison. Also the hanging of the Dakota 38, the Massacre at Sand Creek and the Long Walk all took place between 1862 and 1865, under the Lincoln administration.

Voting is integral to our democracy. But as a nation, we are at a crossroads.

Our elections' integrity has been subjected to foreign interference, hacking, and a wave of voter suppression.

This #PresidentsDay2020, we must all embrace our responsibility to act.
For Black people, the right to vote has been an arduous, even bloody, battle. It's marked by immense victories like the Voting Rights Act & sharp losses like the 2013 #ShelbyCounty decision.

This year, LDF dedicated a page in @USATODAY's #BHM edition to that historic struggle. Image
There are at least two ways that we must act to #protectourdemocracy:

First, prepare to vote! Know about your state's voter ID laws, polling sites, and deadlines. Protect your vote by using these non-partisan materials:

Happy #PresidentsDay2020!

@ewarren @TeamWarren @TeamWarrenTN I don't ordinarily spend a ton of time or energy on national politics, but if you've followed me for any period of time at all, you probably understand that I think Trump has been a disaster for both the presidency and the @GOP. So I think this election is critically important.
@ewarren @TeamWarren @TeamWarrenTN @GOP I think a woman beating Trump during the centennial celebration of the success of the women's suffrage movement would be an important moment for our politics. And @ewarren has been the woman I've wanted to see become President for a long time.
