#WildfireFire conducive conditions are likely to get extremely dangerous next week in #Ontario and western #Quebec. A short thread 1/n
First, conditions are already very dry, especially in western Quebec. Some rain in the last couple of days has improved the conditions but still, it is dryer than normal following two-months of much below average precipitations in Quebec 2/...
Beginning next week, both the Canadian and American models are forecasting widespread heat in Ontario and western Quebec. The extent and intensity of this heat depends on the models but still, forecast are jaw-dropping 3/...

@evanderburg when you start to unpeel the public relations veneer from well-financed mainstream media campaign to impose #5G you will see there is PLENTY to worry about — & independent experts who actually know something are in sharp disagreement with #BigWireless

this .@CNN story claim:
@evanderburg @CNN

hereby challenge .@CNN to report #5Gfact: contrary to this blizzard of bland blanket corporate assurances, #BigWireless forced to admit to U.S. Senate committee hearing they aware of ***NO INDEPENDENT SCIENTIFIC STUDIES OVER #5G HAZARDS***

Thread: Dump bad equations. They lead to bad decisions.

On May 10, Mr. @BorisJohnson proposed a simple equation to determine #COVID Alert Level. He then explained how the reopening policy could be shaped based on this "Threat Level".

1/
In this thread, I will explain why this equation is not only wrong, but is also completely unnecessary — especially when we have clear alternative measures that can guide #COVID policies and decisions.

* Fast forward to tweet # 11 if you already know Dimensional Analysis.

2/
One of the first subjects in physics is "Dimensional Analysis". It needs to be emphasized more in high school and college physics courses.

See this @wikipedia article for a technical description:

As #Quebec prepares to partially open today, I’m trying to keep an open mind. But I’m looking at these numbers and I can’t make sense of them. Quebec has roughly 23% of the CDN population, but almost 54% of all confirmed cases nationally, and close to 60% of all deaths.
Alberta, with significantly fewer #COVIDー19 cases than Quebec, isn’t planning on opening schools until September. Same for BC.
New Brunswick hasn’t had a COVID case for weeks and zero deaths, but hasn’t announced any plans to reopen schools/businesses.
In the meantime, the province doing - by far - the worst in the country numbers-wise, is preparing to slowly start opening businesses and sending kids off to school despite the overwhelming unease expressed by many parents and teachers.

Here's why we will not be sending our children to #school in #Quebec on May 19th. I'm writing as a parent and as a teacher educator. 1/
One of the major reasons given for sending children back to school is to help students with #learning difficulties. Checking my child's IEP, there is no way his teacher will be able to meet his needs any better at school than at home. 2/
@francoislegault talked about how it's important for a student with ADHD to be in school right now. I agree. However, students are NOT going back to a learning environment they were used to, one that will support their learning-it will be worse than home. 3/

NEW: Our 4/22 model release involves updated estimates for previously included locations in the US and Europe, and a more in-depth examination of the results.

We also have #COVID19 predictions for Puerto Rico and by province in Canada.

🆕healthdata.org/covid/updates

(Thread)
As we add new locations to our production pipeline, we will focus on producing estimates for locations that have reported a minimum of 50 cumulative deaths to date.
For example, in today’s release we show results for four Canadian provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec) that have met the threshold, but not for other provinces. ➡️covid19.healthdata.org/projections

Went to my local bike store today, + they told me they're closing as of midnight tonight. The premier of #Quebec has declared them "non-essential" (while keeping auto shops + government-monopoly liquor + cannabis stores open).
In neighboring province of #Ontario, they remain open, as in NYC (in spite of fact that @BilldeBlasio is fantastically un-woke on sustainable transport).
At a time when many people don't want to take #transit for risk of getting sick, bikes are individualized transport to people who have to get to work safely, with safe physical distancing. (Especially true in #Montreal, which has lately built great separated bike lanes).

Looking forward to the first panel which will be moderated by BC journalist @sarahcox_bc. Opening welcome now. Starting to regain feeling in my face from the walk here, hi Winnipeg!
We're in Treaty 1 territory for the #hydroimpacted conference. Welcome by local elder Dave Scott in Cree language. Speaking now about the treaty relationship, its history, the 'doctine of discovery', Trudeau's White Paper & ongoing devolution process.. cc #SiteC #treaty8

A disappointing statement from @TheJagmeetSingh “You cannot have Mr. Scheer’s beliefs and be the prime minister of Canada. It’s pretty clear,” Dear Mr Singh, I'm no Social Conservative. But it's not Scheer's personal beliefs that made many progressive conservatives like me choose
not to vote for his party. Scheer was either unable or unwilling to express himself on social issues & even simple ones like double citizenship, resume padding, and whether or not he hired a dynamite PR firm to blow up Bernier's reputation. Many progressive conservatives
continue to think that the #Conservative Party will be forced to replace this fourth liner with a first liner. But Mr. Singh, with all due respect, implying that a political leader's Roman Catholic beliefs disqualifies him from becoming a PM is the equivalent of

This year the BQW had the privilege to “adopt” Mme Emily Greif’s 👩🏻‍🏫 5th grade French ⚜️ class at @SWSatgoding @dcpublicschools, through the @EmbassyAdoption Program.

Ensuite un hommage, en français, au célèbre poète montréalais Léonard Cohen.

And then they paid tribute to #Montréal poet Leonard Cohen, with the French version of his famous song “Hallelujah”
