IDEA/ Don't know if it'd work—but I wonder if folks could do "quarantine book clubs" in which you find someone online a) who disagrees with you politically, b) whose integrity you trust, c) who'd be willing to read a book you recommend if you read one they suggest. Then you chat.
PS/ The second point is key: you'd need to be able to trust one another. You wouldn't go through the trouble of reading a book if your book-club partner is going to flake on reading one you suggest. And you'd want to be certain it's someone you can have a decent chat with, after.
PS2/ Twitter seems like a good *and* bad place for this. Bad in that the vibe is poisonous, good in that if you can find someone you had a respectful disagreement with—even one—you can start a #quarantinebookclub. If you each find 2-3 peers, you can do a discussion thread after.
