Better late than never: the Week 17 elimination scenario thread!

A whopping 10 teams can be eliminated this week. In the AFC, that's the #Patriots, #Jets, #Raiders and #Steelers
In the NFC Wildcard picture, the #Commanders, #Lions, #Packers and #Seahawks could all get eliminated this week
And in the NFC South race, the #Panthers and #Saints could be knocked out.

THIS IS ASIAN HATE: It's unclear when encounter in #Seattle's Capitol Hill happened, but vid was posted recently. Asian Americans continue to be subjected to this behavior. It's just NOT being reported. ANGRY woman pretty much lists every stereotype and insult. #StopAsianHate
INTERNET WILL FIND HER: Hey at least she’s a #Raiders fan. I love Bo Jackson and I’m trying to get Davante Adams in a trade for my fantasy football team. 😂🤡🙃 #Seattle #StopAsianHate
WILL MAYOR REGRET DECISION? Back in October, reports emerged about @MayorofSeattle cutting city's anti-Asian hate budget by 50%. But incidents keep happening. Some now asking, "What has Mayor really done for Asian Americans so far?" Good question. #Seattle

Ironing out kinks in the viz but here are #Chiefs vs #Cardinals receiving stats to tide you over.

Juju looks promsing, MVS isn't a thing but playing over Hardman in 2 WR sets, don't worry about Skyy.

Hollywood will be fine, Ertz part time coming off injury, idk about Dortch.
#Steelers @ @Bengals

Diontae will be fine, really strong Pat F showing, meh from Claypool and Pickens.

Chase is a star, prob don't care about Boyd even with Tee sidelined, even pre-Higgins injury it was firmly the Chase show.
Air yards data looking a bit suspect for a few teams, going to pause for now

A couple of years ago I published a weekly matchups thread with charts for each game, and this year I'm bringing it back! While I'll normally share on Thursdays, I'm so excited for Week 1 to start that I'm sharing this week's today!

Let's have a great season, everyone! 🏈
Before I start, here's a description of the 3 charts:
1. Comparing OFF vs. DEF key stat rankings
2. Player distribution of 2021/22 DK points
3. Player % of team rushing/receiving expected fpts

In addition to these charts, I'll also include one stat nugget relevant to that game!
#Bills @ #Rams (+2.5)
Game total: 52
BUF implied team total: 27.25
LA implied team total: 24.75
Key stat: Buffalo's defensive pass EPA/play went from -0.112 (2nd) with Tre'Davious White (weeks 1-12) to 0.035 (15th) without him (weeks 13-20). He's out Thursday night.

** Post Week 10 // Pre-Week 11 Thought Dump **

Coming off another wild week of upsets.

Among NFL best records:

8-2 #Titans have lost to 2-7 #Jets
7-2 #Cowboys to 5-5 #Broncos
7-3 #Rams to 4-5 #49ers
6-3 #Bills to 2-7 #Jaguars
6-3 #Bucs to 3-6 #WFT
6-3 #Ravens to 3-7 #Dolphins
Random Takes & Notes:

- Standing by Rhamondre Stevenson as #Patriots best RB with Wk 10 as confirmation bias
- Rashod Bateman hasn’t hurt Marquise Brown whatsoever; The Real Hollywood Avging 13 targets since Bateman’s return
- Jeff Wilson SZN if Eli Mitchell (finger) sits v Jags
- Josh Allen used play action on 57% of Week 10 drops — nearly 2x the highest rate of any team all last year. He destroyed, of course
- #Bills backfield has devolved into 3-way RBBC. Avoid
- Long as #Bears keep letting Justin Fields run, he’ll produce. Back2Back top-10 FF starts

** Post-Week 7 Review // Pre-Week 8 #fantasyfootball Lookahead Thread **

Another thought dump rather than
Position-by-Position Rundown. Feel this format may be less organized but more efficient.
* Justin Fields Dream is officially dead
* Sounds strange but Allen Rob’s best hope = Andy Dalton
* Painful but still buying low on Cal Ridley as long as he keeps getting 10 tgts/game. Bye also out of way
* Somehow, ARodgers has been *better* in box score w/o DAdams last 3 years
* Tonyan & RCobb looking like must-starts on TNF as Covid wipes out #Packers top pass catchers
* Jalen Hurts drafters need a QB2 handy as benching rumors heat up. Suggestion: Danny Dimes
* Tyler Higbee peripheral usage screams buy buy buy. #Rams featuring him in scoring position

So have we talked about the timing of the Jon Gruden thing yet?

Because it was essentially a Friday news dump, right? Not that @WSJSports has any control over when it gets the info, but a source had to leak that information. You can't request private email correspondence.
Being the cynical fellow I am, I believe that this is the NFL trying to see what public reaction is like to what Gruden did before deciding on a punishment. It was a trial balloon.
Gruden did not seem to be surprised to be asked about it. The #Raiders and the NFL issued responses the day it was reported, and by dumping it on Friday, it put the league's broadcast partners first in line to assess the severity of the comments and contextualize them.

Uhh. Is my memory is off. Why is the @NFL looking into something #Gruden said in an email from *2011*?

Unless he used a league email or did so in his role for the #NFL rules committee, I don’t see what business they have in the matter as he was then a “private citizen”. (1/2)
It was an unspeakable way to speak of DeMaurice Smith, though I don’t think that anyone will step forward and be calling Jon Gruden an *actual* racist. Some people get pissed, blow up, and occasionally utter unspeakably offensive shit. In those moments, you must judge them (2/3)
on their actions - & again I don’t think anyone will be stepping forward to call Jon Gruden an *actual* racist. His nickname is “Chucky” for a reason.

I don’t see what business the #NFL has here anyway, except in the examples above. (3/3)

There are 3 perennial #NFL playoff teams at 1-2 right now

#Seahawks
#ChiefsKingdom
#SteelersNation

Who's got the BEST chance of still making the playoffs?
CC: @HolleyandSmith
I want to say #ChiefsKingdom because of history but they aren't just 1-2, they have 2 conference losses AND a division loss. Plus #Raiders are undefeated.
#Steelers have 2 conference losses AND a division loss to a team that's supposed to be a pushover #Bengals . That's not good either. Can't see them getting into even second place with the Browns and Ravens on top

OK, @davekaval, you're about to get some truth from a long-time member of the "SF Media." But I also got my metro newspaper start with seven years at the Oakland Tribune. I lived in Berkeley when I went to Cal and in the East Bay for all but nine of the 42 years ...
... I have been in NorCal. I have some standing here. I've been here almost as long you've and I've seen more than you, and I have to say I have never witnessed a more incompetent attempt to secure a new ballpark than what I've seen with you. First, I would have thought ...
... after the Laney College fiasco that whatever came next, you would have had your ducks in a row BEFORE your stadium and financing plan. But the city of Oakland pushed back the day you proffered your Howard Terminal plan because of the public money. Actually, I understand ...

#Raiders owner Mark Davis said the "I Can Breathe" wording came from George Floyd's brother Philonise, who said "Today, we are able to breathe again."

Davis added: "If I offended the family, then I'm deeply, deeply disappointed."

He also said the post won't be deleted.
Davis said he wasn't aware that NYPD supporters wore "I Can Breathe" shirts following the 2014 killing of Eric Garner. After I brought that up to him he said, "I learned something... I have to do a little bit more research into that just so I can speak coherently on that aspect."
More from Davis: "Let me say this right off the bat: I was not aware of that. Absolutely not. I had no idea of that. That's a situation that I was not aware of. I can see where there could be some negativity towards what I said based on that."

Nelson Agholor is an immediate upgrade as a primary deep threat for the #Patriots offense. Damiere Byrd was good for what he was, but should never have been asked to be the team's #2 receiver.

Agholor can fill his role from day one a lot better.

(Thread)
Agholor has great burst off the line and can get up to top speed very quickly. Here he gets an inside release against the CB and uses his hands and subtle body lean to stack and get on top of the CB, then tracks the ball over his shoulder for a TD.

Very hard to do. #Patriots
Running go routes isn't as simple as running faster than the CB, especially when they are playing this far off. Agholor knows this and has to stem release inside, then attack the corners outside hip to get him to do a turn to win on this go.

Doesn't lose momentum and wins clean

Trevon Moehrig FS
6'2 202lbs
Texas Christian (TCU)

Another Safety atop draft rankings is Moehrig who would also be a good consideration for the #Raiders. He's a long FS with decent speed and great IQ for the backend. Let's take a look #RaiderNation Image
Trevon is great against the run, he's a willing tackler which is always what you're looking for being the last line of defense. He comes flying your the backfield with bad intentions at times and can look over aggressive at others. He's a sure
Tackler but one of his areas to work on are angles, he takes a lot of bad angles because he liked to start aggressive which is good but he can be caught off guard. What comes with this aggressiveness tho is his ability to get it right for a few TFL though
