RIGHT! As #RailwayArchitecture finished last week and Twitter put up with it for 10 long weeks (yes, I know I'm firmly on many mute lists now…) I thought it apt to tweet personal thanks and credit. And uh-oh, it's become a thread. So... (1/16)
Thank you to all 65 (sixty-five!) experts who contributed on-screen to #RailwayArchitecture. For your time, knowledge, expertise and joy. I never thought we'd have such a diverse range of voices and I am so pleased that we did. (2/16)
Everybody who contributed off-screen, by advising, by helping, or by saying absolutely no Tim do NOT touch that put it BACK; or by making things happen and by opening doors that we never dreamed that might be opened for us. (3/16)

So TODAY the virtual model train show #BigWORshow is happening online and honestly it's almost impossible to tell that some of these masterpieces aren't real. Each a true work of art and obsession. Do have a look: world-of-railways.co.uk/virtual-exhibi… ImageImageImageImage

Four more of my behind-the-scenes pics from filming ‘The Architecture The Railways Built’ for @YesterdayTweets TV. The v splendid 1877 Grand Staircase at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel (or, as designed by George Gilbert Scott, The Midland Grand). Absolute #RailwayArchitecture unit. ImageImageImageImage
I must also thank the ‘Sage of St Pancras’, the quite brilliant Royden Stock, for indulging my request for this - one big Zig-a-Zig-Ahh after we’d finished shooting 👍 Image
Oh! I forgot these two - as afternoon light flooded in from the west. One of the corridors stretching around from the main stair through the curved wing of the St Pancras Midland Grand hotel, & another looking up to the vaulted ceiling of the grand staircase. V special building. ImageImage

Architecture fans! A taster of #RailwayArchitecture variety on @YesterdayTweets TV tonight at 8pm to enjoy:
🏘️🏡Amersham Sun Houses & Metro-Land homes
🏠🚇Watford station (1925)
🚉🪱Great Malvern & "Worm" (Elmslie 1862)
🏢🏗️Barking Riverside station @LDNOverground (2021)
(1/6).. ImageImageImageImage
The Sun Houses are built on the land leading up to the famous "High & Over" at Amersham... I always felt they could have been the inspiration for Osbert Lancaster's "20th Century Functional" house cartoons... (2/6) ImageImage
We also meet my parents (!) to see their happy little Metro-Land homes from their 1950s suburbia childhoods. This whole area of London really *was* enabled by the Metropolitan Railway. David Bownes @C20thPosters is on hand to guide us: a taller, cleverer version of me, dammit🤔 ImageImageImageImage
