Pernah nggak si merhatiin mengapa tema ramadan identik dengan sebuah lentera? (selain masjid, bulan, dan unta tentunya)

Apa maksud dari lentera di hal-hal yang berbau ramadan? Dan dari mana sejarahnya?

Well, ini dia sedikit bahasannya

“How should I break my fast?”

This is my most common patient question this week. As 2 billion Muslims start #fasting for Ramadan I’ll answer here from my perspective as a doctor & cardiometabolic researcher. Hopefully you’ll find takeaways to enjoy a #RamadanMubarak

A thread…
First and foremost a disclaimer that I’ll be answering from a scientific standpoint, not as a religious expert.

You may see, though, that much of the medical reasons here coincide perfectly with the sunna or tradition of Prophet Muhammad PBUH (not surprisingly).
Now to answer the question.

The best thing to break your fast with are dates.

Dates are full of key ingredients that are very helpful after a long fast. First, they’re high in fructose & glucose which helps rapidly restore low blood sugar. Image

Today at sundown, Muslim communities in America and around the world joyfully welcome the Holy Month of #Ramadan. Each year, the emergence of the new moon brings a season of self-reflection, spiritual renewal and gratitude for life’s blessings.
For generations, America’s large and diverse Muslim communities have been essential to our nation’s success: whether serving on the frontlines of the pandemic, advancing the fight against injustice in our communities or enriching our cultural tapestry.
Despite the invaluable contributions of Muslim Americans, Islamophobia continues to threaten our Muslim communities and undermine Americans’ most cherished national values, with hate crimes against Muslims on the rise in recent years.

Welcome back #Ramadan.

May you strengthen our immunity against greed;
Inoculate our hearts with forgiveness;
Fortify our faith;
Provide a shield for our spirituality;
And inject safety to our homes.

Wherever you are in the world, a very special #RamadanMubarak #CovidRamadan
For those unsure about fasting and Covid we've looked into this. Firstly there is no link with fasting, Covid & mortality. However as last year was without shops/barbers etc open we need to be as careful now as we were then to keep this true.
Secondly, many with long term conditions can safely fast (or use alternative shariah options). See this thread for links to paper and guidance:

Ramadan Mubarak.

Ramadan ❤:
Ramadan marks the Ninth Month of Islamic/Lunar calender.

Ramadan is the month of fasting, abstinence and reflection.
Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is more than simply avoiding food.
Fasting in Ramadan is the practice of discipline and the abstaining of temptations and bad habits.
From sunrise to sunset, able Muslims are asked to shun food and drink (including water), avoid sexual activities, smoking and intoxication and any sort of impure thoughts.
The Month of Ramadan is an incredibly auspicious month in which the initial verses of the Holy Quran were bestowed upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a guidance for all mankind.
This happened during the final 10 nights of this month,which is why Laylat-ul-Qadr holds so much significance

a few fun facts to celebrate 5 years of #AppleWatch

here’s a photo taken of the team on launch day, that’s me in the centre. (the beard ages me but my wife @bella_bongiorno won’t let me leave home without it)
here’s a reproduction of my original sketch for the home screen. the shape of the circular icon was driven by the clock that lived in the centre of what i originally called the dock. the crown gave the home screen a dimensionality, allowing you to scrub through layers of the ui.
digital touch was originally called E.T. for electronic touch. i called it that for its potential as a new form of emotional connection.

the drawing “ink" was inspired by my graffiti days. the ephemera was designed to communicate transmission while making it guilt free.

My message to Muslim Ummah on commencement of 2020 Ramadan.

This has not been the best of times for us as a people and as a nation. Ditto for the global community.
The novel coronavirus, which originated  from Wuhan in China has spread to no less than 210 countries and territories as at today.
Sadly Nigeria has not been spared this scourge. Since our first incident case in February, we have seen the figure rise to 981 with 31 deaths as at April 23, 2020. The good news however is that thanks to our heroic healthcare workers, 197 of the cases have recovered.

I stay at a close by Estate to Badore and I just took a walk to Badore now to verify the viral information on COVID-19 related death in the community. I met with the Baale and some other members who told me they cannot confirm the report.
I was told that truly people gathered today in Badore but it was when some philanthropists visited the community to distribute food. I also obtained a video of the place where the food was shared.
As at the time of writing this, the community is peaceful. It is however important that people take necessary precautions.

This is not to say the report is fake, further findings are ongoing and the public will be duly informed.

Wishing #Ramadan mubarak to all those observing the holy month/ Ramazan ayınız mübarek olsun

In 1896 the #Ottoman newspaper Servet-i Fünun featured a drawing of a mosque adorned with illuminations spelling ‘merhaba’ (hello) to greet Ramadan. But the picture came with a story...
Inside is a piece by the newspaper’s editor, Ahmed İhsan. He loved the atmosphere and meaning of Ramadan, so he decided to write a reflection on the holy month in his newspaper. I’ll let him tell his own (slightly edited for space) story:
Kalemi kağıdı elime almış, muhterem karilerime bir ramazan sohbeti yazayım demiştim.

I picked up my pen and paper, and said to myself that I’d write a Ramadan note to my esteemed readers.
