Matchday: Real Madrid vs Real Betis

League Table at the Moment.

1 Barcelona 58 Pts
2 Real Madrid 56 Pts

With Real Madrid having a game at hand.

A win is crucial to get ahead in the league. We have 12 Matchdays left in this season, and its imperative to play all of them like a final.

Real Betis is at 14th position in the league, with them not winning any of their last 5 fixtures. (3D, 2L)

Recent manager change has left Real Betis in a spin, and they will be looking to get their season back on track. No better way to do so than winning against RM.

Does one need another reason to love Mr.Florentino Perez? Being the President of the biggest football club in the world, with the largest number of followers globally, and hundreds of registered peñas, El Presidente still makes time to share his love with all of us. 1/4
We are proud to be a part of this great club, and this humble ecosystem. Since our fan club's christening as the first official Real Madrid Fan Club (Peña), we have always tried our best to reflect the class, humility and love that the white jersey represents. 2/4
We love our fans the same way we love the club, and the same way our President loves all of us. Season after season we have only grown bigger as a family. We love this responsibility and are looking forward to keep becoming bigger and better. 3/4

UEFA have now published the final payments to clubs for 2018/19 European competitions. In the following thread, I will first look at the Champions League distribution, then the Europa League and finally payments by country (with a focus on the Big Five leagues).
In 2018/19 each of 32 clubs qualified for Champions League group stage got €14.5m plus €2.7m for a win and €900k for a draw. Additional prize money for each further stage reached: last 16 €9.5m, quarter-final €10.5m, semi-final €12m, final €15m and winners €19m.
#FCBarcelona had the highest 2018/19 Champions League payment of €118m, but English clubs received four of the top six distributions: winners #LFC €111m, runners-up #THFC €102m, #MUFC €93m and #MCFC €93m. #Juventus were 4th with €96m and #PSG 7th with €86m.

#RealMadrid 2018/19 accounts cover a disappointing season, the first after selling Ronaldo, when they were 3rd in La Liga, semi-finalists in the Copa del Rey and exited the Champions League in the last 16. They also had 3 coaches: Lopetegui, Solari & Zidane. Some thoughts follow.
#RealMadrid profit before tax increased by €10m from €43m to €53m (profit after tax up €7m to €38m). Revenue was a record €757m, but only rose €6m (less than 1%), while profit on player sales shot up €45m to €99m. Profit restricted by a €46m impairment provision.
The only #RealMadrid revenue stream to increase was international competitions & friendlies, up €13m (13%) to €114m, but the others stagnated: broadcasting was down €5m (3%) to €173m; membership fees & stadium revenue down €1m to €173m; while marketing was flat at €295m.

#RealMadrid are the most valuable football club in Europe according to The European Elite 19 report, prepared by KPMG. The Whites have a value of €3,224 million, ahead of #ManchesterUnited (€3,207m), #Bayern (€2,696m), #FCBarcelona (€2,767m) and #ManCity (€2,460m) #SportsBiz
The Premier League has confirmed its absolute dominance, having nine clubs on the full list (32 clubs) and accounting for 43% of the total aggregate value. The overall EV of the 32 most prominent European football clubs has increased by 9% (an impressive 35% over the past 3 yrs)
Los Blancos jumped above €3bn EV level for the first time, the only club to do this alongside the Red Devils, however, the Spanish giants' current EV is still lower than the #MUFC's was last year. Similarly, the Bavarians' current value is lower than the Blaugrana's in 2018

If I had to point out Lopetegui's biggest problem as #RealMadrid manager, is that he sacrificed too much of his original possession + pressing game plan to not upset the existing dressing room hierarchy.

The team then devolved into a bad, Ronaldo-less copy of the Zidane system.
And when you see how strongly the dressing room leaders have supported Lopetegui (in the press room, not really on the pitch), you understand why he took that decision.

But a philosophy manager renouncing his philosophy often doesn't end well.
For example, Ceballos has been one of Real's most in-form players this season and an almost ideal fit for Julen's playing style. He should be a starter right now, yet he did not play a single minute of #ElClasico because Julen keeps choosing hierarchy over performance.

#RealMadrid 2017/18 accounts cover a season when they finished third in La Liga, but won the Champions League for a third consecutive year, the fourth time in 5 years, plus the Club World Cup and European and Spanish Super Cups. Some thoughts in the following thread.
#RealMadrid profit before tax increased by €17m from €26m to €43m (profit after tax up €10m from €21m to €31m). Revenue (Madrid’s definition) rose 11% (€76m), their largest rise since 2000, to a record high of €751m, while profit on player sales was 4% (€2m) up at €54m.
All #RealMadrid revenue streams increased with the largest growth in marketing €41m (16%) to €295m, followed by international & friendly matches €13m (17%) to €100m, broadcasting €13m (8%) to €178m and membership fees & stadium revenue €8m (5%) to €174m.
