Excellent article by @YasmeenSerhan about Govt’s #RecklessPolitics for EU citizens if no-deal. But wow, @ukhomeoffice: “When asked for examples of how EU nationals would provide proof of their current status, the HO said it would not comment further.” ...…
“Not comment further.” What a shameful response. We need clarity as this chaos is already having real consequences. I am hearing more and more stories of airlines telling EU citizens they shouldn’t travel after 31 Oct. There also appears to be a growing number of employers 2/
who ask questions about status and rights, and I am told some are seeking to use this uncertainty to dismiss people. Nothing for you will change, they said .... and now this. What is happening here is entirely unacceptable and a huge stain on this country’s reputation. 3/3

I am so sorry to hear this Beatrice! The number of people given the wrong status is far, far too high. In many that is resolvable, but not all try to even resolve it and why should anyone? As it stands, settled status is a broken system. 1/
Broken quite literally yesterday because the system was taken offline for “maintenance”. Why? Because @patel4witham’s #RecklessPolitics caused so much anxiety that too many EU citizens tried to apply at the same time — that’s the obvious explanation. 2/
All of this shows why we need a switch from an application to a registration system and physical proof of status. And Beatrice, please do challenge this: it’s not the right status for you. Great to see @GradySNP has already offered to help. 3/3
